pizza_delivery.gif

Deliver food to hungry customers as an extraterrestrial gig worker.

You have 60 seconds to deliver food to as many hungry customers as possible! Fly over a food truck to pick up an item and quickly deliver it to the hungry customers calling from their apartment building windows.

Use the arrow keys to fly, picking up and dropping off food items will happen automatically. This game was made for Pico-8. You may pause and with the 'Enter' key.

This was intended for the Compo, but I ran out of time. Sorry, there is no sound or music!

Yes! Finally a pico-8 game. Looks great and feels great. Awesome execution here.

Pretty cool with a Pico-8 game!

Only feedback from here is that it would have been nice with WASD controls as well, as arrow keys on my laptop are tiny and sit next to page up/down keys that move the entire page.

A really fun little game! It'd be neat if, after getting enough deliveries, the player could move on to additional levels with even new dishes to serve--even the food pickup points could drive around for added chaos.

It'd also be great if the player could tell which indicators pointed to distant windows, and which pointed to close-by ones... right now, the route 'optimizing' is largely guesswork, but indicators that changed size or opacity based on distance could let player skill really shine.

Nicely done overall!!

@wadlo thanks for the kind words!

@jepjoh2 sorry, by default Pico-8 doesn't let me freely map the controls, though there are a few tricks. A gamepad should work though if you have one! Thanks for the feedback.

@breadstick Those are all ideas I had in my notes, and even had art for, but didn't have time to properly implement. I really enjoyed how this game started coming together at the end and think I'll find time to properly finish what I intended in a post-jam version. A distance indicator is something I'll have to think more about, it would introduce an additional level of skill that it's missing right now. Thanks for the feedback!

Really fun little pico game. The ship controls felt good. I loved the art especially the smoke. I would love for you to expand and add music to elevate the vibe. Simple to learn and simple to play. Super addicting. My best score was 12. Fantastic job!

Pretty funny game! It was a great decision to post gameplay sneak peek under, because for me it was hard to find out what to do at the start. Have to say that the smoke trail got me so hard haha

i love the cute pixel art style, and pico 8 is always an intresitng choice for a game jam. i really like the movement but the hitbox of the customer could be a litle bigger

Fun! Easy to get into. This actually brought me back to the feeling of killing it on a busy pizza delivery night. The only thing I need is a way to tell what delivery is closest, or next...60 seconds is so quick! Level tiers would be fun. Good job!:)

Love visual style is great, and the movement felt very smooth and nice. All the different animations for the sprites were great too! I love PICO-8 games too, so that's a plus. Nice job.

Fun little game (the ship's moves remind me my own entry)!

Beautiful pixel art and the movements are easy to master.

Add some soundtrack and SFX and it your game will be perfect.

Good job!

@bartalomew Thanks! I considered markers for the trucks but didn't want too much clutter on the screen. That's actually how I got the idea for the smoke! It helps you orient and find the trucks, but you have to remember the order or what the building looks like (granted, the buildings should be more unique to make that easier!).

@poppy-entertainment thanks for the feedback. I didn't get time to play test or tune much.

@jampla-games A tutorial and levels of increasing difficulty and complexity was planned, but I always run out of time in LD!

good game, the best way to get a high score is to deliver the closest deliveries

Great game! I really like the color scheme of this game, as well as the "smoke" effect presented in pixelated dots! I'm going to play another round! See you later!

Very nice game. Love the art style, looks really cute. The smoke effect looks great! I also like, that the controls are so simple. Works best with a gamepad, imo. Here's my highscore:

Aww yeah, it's a Pico8 entry too! I didn't seem to have any sound or music but the gameplay is solid and the visuals are great! So striking and vivid! The game loop is right on theme for the jam too. An amazing and well-made entry!

This is a cute game and I always like to see pico 8. I found the delivery bubbles scrolled mostly off the screen however which was slightly hard to follow. Great look.

I like the blocks of windows that keep things varied without being fully random. We just relied on randomisation for our window placement.

Cool game I love what you did with the limitation of the pico 8. Controls felt good. I'm of fan of your art.

Solid game! Everything works pretty well together and it's the kind of thing that one could get better at from practice.

@weirdbitgames Thanks for the positive feedback! I didn't prioritize sound or music, which I now regret. I got a little caught up tweaking the visuals.

@alpacalypse Thanks for the comment. The delivery bubbles are intentionally partially off-screen. I'll have to consider whether this is the right choice, or if there is another clearer way of communicating that information without blocking too much of the screen. Funny you mention random windows! I started making completely procedurally generated buildings but quickly realized it would take too much time, so I tried to make the buildings somewhat unique so the player wouldn't get lost.
