Curse Those Heroes is a 2-player game, where one player controls the crazed warlock and his magical orbs, and the other player is a hero who must try to scale the castle without being hit.

Each magical orb has it own special ability, which the warlock can make full use of to try and surprise the unsuspecting hero!
All you need is a keyboard and 2 people to play! Hope you have fun!

Controls:
Warlock - WASD each key controls specific coloured orbs and has a cooldown.

Hero - Arrow Keys (Up key is jump and double jump)

Story: (Also in the game itself!)

Those heroes have risen up again. They're trying to steal Lord Tanigryr's Tome...

You know... that book you found the other day.
As always, it was getting close to the end of the month, when you realized — a tad late — that your toilet paper was running turd-wrenchingly low. You were looking for a suitable substitute in your castle's library when fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately for Lord Tanigryr) you stumbled upon the most diabolical book in the universe. Luxury bog roll in hand, you started for the lavatory when all of a sudden you were overcome with the urge to rule the world.

With your newfound powers and your penchant for world domination, you were shocked to discover that nobody has ever ran for the position of Supreme Overlord. A role that appears to you to be poorly represented in today's democracy. You graciously take it upon yourself to fill in this gap in society and vow to lead the galaxy for the greater ev... errr good. Your first policy: World Slavery.

Surprisingly, the general folk haven't taken to your enlightened way of dealing with world issues, but mostly they just don't wanna pay their taxes man! They have rounded up a force of heroes to try and thwart your masterful plan.

Show those filthy peasants who's boss!

Interesting mechanic! Took a little while to realize what was going on, but after we got the hang of it there was an incredible amount of timing and strategy involved. The Hero moved a little slowly, and it might be nice to have an extra button for the Warlock to spawn an additional ball, at least as the Hero gets closer. Overall well done, fun entry!

Liked the premise. Unique mechanic with the warlock.

Overall I think this concept is great however it seems the warlock is a bit unbalanced, pherhaps add more speed or jump power to hero, or maybe powerups. Great job doe!

The premise for this game was really unique! I didn't really have someone to play against, so I played with myself. .... wait, that didn't sound right!

The fun part was that I randomly mashed buttons with my left hand and couldn't figure out why it was hard to get around things as the hero.

All in all, pretty fun.

One thing -- It wanted me to go through an entire installation process (includiing DX9), which I should already have... and for some reason the installation process took like 10 minutes, which seemed a little hefty considering the game play is much, much shorter.

Hey guys, thank you all very much for the feedback :)

@Flaid, I'm not sure why it installed DX9 again for you, but I think it's a GameMaker issue. I compiled the game from a newer version version of GameMaker now, so hopefully that helps. Cheers for telling me.

Good job!
I'll check the vampig download. Sometimes the transition after hit "p" key is very slow. So if you have some time you could try again.

Ok guys I've uploaded a "standalone executable" now, so no need to install the game any more. ^^

Bit awkward testing this on my own but I love this interesting take on the gameplay of Donkey Kong. Took me a while to figure out how to use the Warlock's orbs properly but once you master them, you can make some really interesting strategies.

Fun little game if you have someone to play with. It took a little while to figure out the warlock abilities, but then it was a lot of fun. Surprisingly balanced.

Seemed to be incomplete, though I may've just missed something. Story was really good, though the gameplay was confusing. Thought I was supposed to touch the tome as the hero, and I couldn't tell what the controls for the Warlock did.

Interesting game, though I felt like the wizard player has no real chance of winning... I included it in part 25 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/OjNOJwfYtGQ
