Jelly Rush by Gelatohead

[raw]
made by Gelatohead for LD33 (COMPO)
Jelly Rush is a game about growth. As a tiny monster, collect orbs of jelly (apparently falling from the sky) and grow into an adorable giant!

Controls:
A/D or Left/Right Arrows: Move
J or Spacebar: Dart/Dash
I or Up Arrow: Grow

Developed in Game Maker: Studio
Art, Music, and Code are all original.
Source code is included with the game.

Notes:
Something wierd'll happen to you when you start moving, if you're bigger.
There was more to it, but it all changed when I couldn't figure out horizontal collisions.
I left plenty of clues for how growth works.
Other than that, it's as simple as it gets.

Too basic and got boring after a minute. Needed some way to finish.

The game is perhaps a bit too basic, but it's also fun and really beautiful.

Nice animation, sounds and music. But the gameplay is slow and quickly becomes boring. I loved the ability to spam "Dash" though.

very cute little game! I loved the little moving animations and sounds and the dashing ^^
I just found it sad that the blob looses a lot of it's cuteness with each grow :(

Cute art and the idea of only being able to grow in the light is kind of cool - I was confused for a while as to why I wasn't able to grow yet before realizing there was a threshold. I thought I heard a shift in the music right before I was successfully able to grow, which (if it was intentional) was a nice touch... might have just been my imagination, though. Still, not bad!
