MegaBurgers by Horda
- * MegaBurgers * -
Is a modest simulation game in witch you can farm wheat, make buns, feed cows, make steaks, then sell burgers. I had music, surprising elements and humour in the process. Hope you'll like it ! ;)
- * Objectives* -
To beat the game you'll have to make 500$ in cash without going negative. The game is balanced to be quite challenging and you might not make it on first try. You can try to beat it in less than 200 days wich is around 20-30 min;
- * Read the tips! * -
Start by reading all the in-game tips to save yourself time and confusion, then press 'return' key to restart the game. - The Keys used to play are presented in the order you may follow at start. - As as an advice, buy two cows right at the beginning since they grow slowly. - If the game is too challenging, consider playing easy mode (described after).
- Additionnal important tips -
I forgot to implement them in-game and they are based on feedback. - You can't harvest cows until they are fully grown so keep grain in your silo at all time and wait, before calling Mars. - Don't forget to turn off bread factory if you do not have enough money. Turn it on when you have sufficient grain and money to process multiples buns in one go.

- * Easy mode * -
- Since the games seems a bit too challenging to be enjoyable for some players, I give you the cheat key I use for debugging, I forgot to remove it and it is quite conveninent now. Just hit "V" once at start and consider playing in "Easy mode" :)
- * Known bug * -
- Do not process too much buns (+30) without using it for your burgers, or you might enconter a bug. Anyway the game is rather designed to be played in a constant process of objects manner, stocking buns might actually be counter productive.
- * Improvements suggestions: * -
- New Feature: Easy mode (3)
- UI and buttons (3)
- UI process bars (1)
- Bigger fonts (1)
- New Feature: Loans (1)
- New Feature: Machinery variety (1)
- Adding more backgroud scenary (1)
- Correct shadows rendering (1)
- Less confusing cow mechanics (1)

edit: Im d*mb, I did not install Unity WebGL module on this machine. WebGL Uploaded
Keep going!
Music was nice, too!
Thanks for your review !
( psst! There's a secret debugging key that artificialy increase player's money, I forgot to remove it  )
I was a little bit confused with the cow mechanic.
Well done!
I use the tips to fill the lack of it but I can understand how player can stil get confused.
Glad to hear you had a good time !
I tried to make the text small so it does not bother the player, but I could make it appears to be really small in fullscreen yes. Thank you for feedback !

Wow Day 163 is a very good score ! (I scored 188^^)
I'm currious if the the WebGL version would cause some physics odds like this, they should always fly to the same point. Adding some more features after the steack/bread part was my original intent but didnt had time to, so I made that intern part helplessly gathering the burgers and selling them. I take ngood ote of your ideas though.
@**all**
Thank you all for your precious feedback!
I loved the balance of the game, it felt like I was consistently making progress yet I almost never had a lot of money, having to convert it to cows/meat/bread/etc as soon as possible. So, my wealth was usually not in the money but in the intermediate goods, like in real economy :) The bread & meat flying around and the UFOs gave me giggles, though the cow-to-meat process looks just a bit gruesome.
A few bugs/suggestions:
* After playing for a while (maybe ~20-30 minutes) my bread started disappearing. I though it's rotting away, but then I noticed fresh bread disappearing as well, even before it hits the ground. Looks like some bug!
* Of course, the UI could be a bit nicer, with clickable buttons instead of key presses.
* It would be nice if the money for the UFO would be taken as soon as you've pressed the button - otherwise, it is easy to miss that and go bankrupt. It might be left as it is as a design choice, of course :)
* The graphics looks a bit too primitive, maybe just adding some background and throwing a few trees (a brown cylinder + a green sphere would do) here and there, a few stones, some bushes, etc would make it feel much more believable!
* I might be the only one who'll notice that, but the transition between shadow cascades is noticeable - when the shadow suddenly changes based on distance to the camera. I'm guessing you'll need to tweak with Unity shadow settings.
Anyways, enjoyed the game, good job!
First of all thank you a lot for this complete feedback !
- 1) Unfortunately I never experienced that yet, do not know where it could come from. Where you using HTML version?
- 2) Definitely !
- 3) Yes I chose the other way so the money tips appear in front of player camera, but I may have done it the wrong way.
- 4) Yup, I didn't focus on the background at all, needs improvement.
- 5) I do not know what you are talking about, I think I'm gonna spend more time on Unity tutorials x).
Thanks for your review again !
Hmm, ok I think the problem comes to the amount of objects, I never stocked more than 20 to 30 I think, I'll investigate this way !
and that tips bar is too good lmao.
this is surely how burgers are made
In all seriousness, really funny game with simple graphics
and ok audio. With a bit of polish this could be a really fun
and funny game.
Nice work and good luck lol!
Nice truck!
But it's really cool that you made the whole system work, with little workers that know what to do and all. Especially impressive considering it's a solo Compo entry and your first one as well. Keep up the good work, but please make the games easier to play, this game has a great functional world but is frustrating that I can't get very far.
Indeed I made it kinda difficult but it really should'nt be that bad, I'm curious to know what made you go bankrupt so quickly everytime. Especially after you made your first burgers.
I forgot to add some in-game tips that I added in the game description here, did you miss one of them maybe? :s
Like turning off the bread factory? (i bet on this one ^^), or maybe didn't make enough bread or transport grain in one go? Did you know that cows will not die if their no grain left?
I may tune things a little depending on your answer, If you want to try it with lower difficulty, just use V key for an extra starting money :p
Thank you anyway for your kind words and precious feedback, my first participation and those exchanges with the LD community is a great experience! I already hope joining a team for the next jam !
Really needs a UI, just some buttons as well as keys and maybe some status bars to show how different parts of the factory/process are running.
Add a bit of variety to each element e.g. size/speed/cost of tractor/harvester and you have the beginnings of a burger sim.
Loved it, a really nicely balanced game
