Monstr (a dating website, but for monsters) by plusultra

[raw]
made by plusultra for LD33 (JAM)
One day you're at the bus stop, running late for work, when you lay eyes on the HOTTEST HOTTIE YOU'VE EVER SEEN.

You gotta track that person down and ask them on a date!! However, you're a monster, so you've gotta use MONSTR, the dating site specifically for monsters seeking other monsters.

Browse MONSTR for the monster of your dreams. Avoid scambots and meanies. Persuade someone to go on a date with you.

Made in Twine. Has incredible music containing audio of actual human sighs (unrequited love sighs). Runs in your browser.

Warning: due to art limitations, this version of the game has RANDOMIZED profile pictures. They're awesome but should not be used as clues to find the monster of your dreams.

This game is not appropriate for anyone not old enough to use an actual IRL dating site.

Wow? You should check that "not for kids" and "Possibly offensive" checkbox.

Still very funny with some of the monsters though! I love their profile descriptions!

The idea is fun, but there's too much text to read. Anyway, the photos on MONSTR are hilarious :-)

Its quite funny and touching, although don't expect to be blowing things up when you play it.

I don't mind the long text. Good variety of dating profiles, as you note relevant profile images would take up a lot of time but add to the humor of the game. The canned Twine structure is subverted a little by having (what I assume) to be randomised profiles).

Come to think of it the mature or irreverent stuff is quite amusing. It is an adult monster site where everyone's looking for a one night stand, after all.

Was meant to be working, but clicked over to this and just couldn't stop my tentacles swiping right (or is it left? Or into the nether vortex?). Very nicely done, entertaining writing throughout. Though, I also found myself skimming monster profiles in the search for a suitable match…? So, A++ simulation, I guess!

The idea is interesting but the gameplay gets worn out real quick unfortunately. Good writings though, if you really have the patience to get thru it.

Funny entry. But the dating session is too short. Ah, that is the life.

A really clever idea and well-executed! I think it could be great with a consistent art style for the profile pictures. Still, very enjoyable! :) I found the birch bookcase - what will happen?!

A very funny game, and an interesting take on the theme! The writing was top-notch for a game made in three days.

That was pretty funny. About halfway through the first playthrough I was starting to think that I wouldn't find the person I was looking for because online dating is a depressing mess of awful people/monsters, but then I did. So that was a happy ending.

Smartly put together, well-scoped for a jam like this and overall a very nice effort. If I have anything to complain about it's that the randomness of the pictures was a bit jarring and took me out of the game when, for example, there was a picture of Cthulhu next to "hotwhitecentaur" or something, but I do think they needed to be there, and I know it would have been next to impossible to get enough appropriate pictures in such a short space of time.

Nice work.

Interesting concept, though I started losing interest after several days of surfing through profiles looking for a description that fit the mystery date's hint.
