IT'S ALMOST HARVESTING SEASON!

Well, rather, it is harvesting season and you've got 120 seconds to save as many of your crops as you can before they rot, and your trusty old combine harvester, as noisy and creaky as it may be, is all you've got.

Now lets see, how much can you harvest before your crops are forfeit?

Controls:

  • WASD/Arrow Keys - Movement
  • Shift - Boost
  • R - Restart
  • ESC - Go Back

Note the controls should work even for AZERTY layouts as they're mapped to physical keys rather than the keycodes!

Tools:

  • Godot 3.5.1
  • Tilesetter
  • Aseprite

NOTE: the sound/ambience is creative commons works, not mine :)

Game was very relaxing, but there wasn't really a end goal or reason to keep farming

@twilightrh yeah that's fair, in the end i turned it into a time attack because that was the easiest twist on making there be a clear end/win state for the game, other than "harvest all the crops" (which was where I started, but seemed a little lame) and then you could also compare scores if you want too/improve on the speed at which you harvest everything :)

Simple and relaxing. A good jam game. I liked the controls, it feels good. Maybe with more time it would be good to put some different mechanics to make it more dificult to harvest.

Ooh, I like this one! It's hard to explain why it's so satisfying, but the controls, rotation, and harvesting collision are just really nicely done. I like that the rocks do a bit of damage but don't end your run immediately. Nice job on the little details, too, like the harvesting sound effect, tire tracks, and the wheat particles shooting out the back. Great work on your game!

I liked the sound design and the graphics. The bird sounds created a somehow meditative game feeling ;-) The level could have been larger and you could have put in some extra game objects like animals which you should avoid. You could also add some more levels. I had fun.

@creativecodingsebastian initially i wanted to have the map be a lot larger for sure, including little farm fields with animals that you had to maybe drive across but without crushing your sheep to death :D (with the little sheep wandering about) thanks for playing!

i also made fences that i was gonna place around the level (and would break/damage your harvester a little like the rocks but less than the rocks did), but i decided towards the end that maybe they'd just be more annoying than interesting to have to go around :)

(another idea a friend of mine sadly gave me way too late, was to have WASD control the harvester and then have arrow keys control the truck which would collect the grain and you had to match both up to not waste grain harvested!)

great game! controls are tight and responsive, I like the mechanics , its simplicity and gives a good arcade feel to it, harvest the wheat for a limited amount of time and avoiding rocks this has a good replay value and overall I enjoyed playing this one! Congratulations! keep it up!

Quite fun. Some kind of meaningful goal would have been nice though. The visual worked really well. Good job!

Nice visuals, appropriate sounds, simple and enjoyable gameplay!
I appreciate game with short "runs" and clear goals, so this one was pretty nice!
Good job!

Perhaps what would've made it even better is multiple levels (layouts) and multiple vehicles with different stats. And of course - global leaderboards! And now that I mention it, I'm thinking that I should perhaps set up such a system, in case I decide to add it to my game next game jam. It's something I've wanted, but never had time to do on the game jam itself.

@pulni The leaderboard is definitely a good shout, and I wanted to add one but by the time I was like "done done" with the game, there was only about 2 hours left, so I didn't have time to add it but it would definitely have made the scores more interesting :D

Make the system! I'll probably do the same and make sure I have one I can just directly hook up next gamejam too :)

And you're probably right that making it level based and maybe adding at least one or two more would have been interesting, initially I was looking at an infinite map, but that got scrapped due to time!

I might go back and add a few more levels and fix a few rough edges, but we will see :eyes:

Thanks for playing!

Fun little game, I think I got a pretty decent score here:

I honestly have nothing to complain about here, a super solid small game that has me curious if it is possible to harvest everything... Well done!

This game was pretty cool. I was able to harvest a lot but I also this it would have been cool if the unharvested crops change color when time is up.

This was really fun, one of my favourite jam games! I love how it shows how quickly you're harvesting, that was cute, overall the graphics are great too! Nice job!

Even though I'm not supposed to, it's actually somewhat satisfying to hit the rocks haha!

Heyy, very fun game! ![harvesting.png](///raw/05e/81/z/56d66.png)

Relaxing, just me, my harvester and crops. Also I liked the art!
I like that it doesn't require you to play too long, and you can always try to beat your highscore.
Some notes: there was a lag every time I harvested crops for the first time and also at first I thought the boost was limited but it seems it's infinite. Besides these minor things it was a smooth experience :)

The premise is simple, but it's a charming little game. I love the graphics and sound! The only thing is that the game doesn't seem to end or restart after the 120 seconds are up. I can just keep driving around and harvesting. Great job overall though!
