F.U.D: Food Under Development by Stellar Lily

Do you think everything grows on trees? Oh wait, it does.

F.U.D is a humorous cooking simulator: master the art of mixing ingredients together in order to cook dishes and satisfy your clients. But to get those ingredients, first you have to plant them yourself!

Harvest what you need from your field and keep the line moving. Don't keep the queue waiting for too long or you might regret it.

There's a slightly complex crafting tree that you'll have to remember if you don't want to lose.

Start with 5 base ingredients and work your way from here more than 15 different recipes!

Feel free to leave your personal best in the comments when leaving feedback! We'd love to hear how you score -- our personal bests are around 60 orders :sparkles:

Love this game! Really well polished and fun to play. I almost want the ingredients to grow longer to increase the need to really manage your time. Overall a really awesome experience!

A really nice little game, maybe the field part could have had a bit more importance, but overall i had a ton of fun with the mechanics

I got addicted right away, I could have kept playing for a while. Very easy to understand the gameplay and jump right in. Nice job!

Really fun game!
The music and sound effects were nice and not too distracting, the art had a unique style and the gameplay was fun.

My only critique is that I would have liked a recipe book as later in the game you are forced to memorize the easier recipes (pasta, ketchup etc) in order to make the more complex recipes.

Awesome game! I think there needs to be some different buttons because my right index finger got tired eventually after all that clicking. Also, I wish there was a pause menu. Was still really fun, and I played this game for longer than I thought I would! :)

Great game! The cooking process reminded me of a mixture between Overcooked and Spiritfarer. I really like the ability to both grow plants and cook them in the same gameplay loop. The recipe discovery is fun too, actually being able to experiment and either be lucky on your first guess, or accidentally discover a different result that you can use later. I'd love to play an expanded version where there's more nuanced food growing/collection/buying/automation that you can use to fuel your kitchen creations. Very nice work!

Nice chill game, liked how it developed in complexity as you went along, and also how everything grew on trees

I loved it! And it was funny to grow steak on trees ahah I really had fun with this game and trying to guess how to make certain recipes sometime without looking at the solutions. It took me a while to realize I could go to other rooms (the field room) so I think that could be more obvious. Great work!

I'm very glad you all appreciate the game as much as you do! We've poured a lot of love in what we've submitted here and it means a lot :green_heart: Onto the feedback:

@zsharpfire About the field: we did plan to include more mechanics on the side of the field (seed combination, limited slots + upgrades, grow time), but we weren't sure if we could include either of those in the limited time that we had so we ultimately decided against it

@the-vecter About the recipe book: same as above - we planned to have a recipe book considering the increasing complexity of the recipes that you have very much noticed. We've included the recipe tree in the itch.io description to compensate, but we definitely understand it's not perfect (especially with 21 ingredients and 16 recipes)

@ominusgalaxy44 About the endless clicking: I can definitely agree with it being tiring over time. We didn't implement extra buttons over the jam period to make sure we could have a polished game loop around that, but we're definitely considering extra actions to speed things up somewhat (like right-clicking to send an item from the inventory bar to the cooking station and back) for an expanded version

@andreia About changing rooms: we initially added the big arrows on the ground to signal the ability to change rooms, but we expected not explicitly mentioning it may cause problems, as we initially faced a similar issue with the recipe indications. For future players, I've added a description to the description both on LD and itch to let them know.

**Thank you all for the feedback** - I'll make sure to check your games out shortly! :sparkles:

A very fun entry! The sound effects definitely help make it a lot more satisfying to drag around the different ingredients required for the later meals. I just wish the actual growing and harvesting mechanics were a little more complex or had more impact on the gameplay. But regardless it's still a pleasant game with a nice feel.

This was great! At first, I thought it was really chill and didn't have much of a challenge. Then it got really exciting once recipes started leveling up. Nice touch on the music speeding up when time was running out, though it would be nice to have a clock somewhere to show that as well. Great job!

Fun, rather well executed and easy to grasp. Though it seems the in-game scientists managed to produce steak trees, so surely in the future they will be able to make breakfeast trees directly ;)

@fmdkdd They definitely will be able to, they just didn't have the time to finish up the breakfast seeds in time for the grand opening. We're planning on hiring scientists to be able to engineer that kind of seeds for next season~ :sparkles:

This is SO ADDICTING. I absolutely loved the mechanics, and the recipes were really clever. I fumbled right before making the Big Breakfast, but it was such a fun game to play!!

I think my only teeny-tiny constructive criticism was the tongue-click SFX. All of the other sounds were so lovely (the bell, the placement of items, etc) but since that sound effect is heard SO much, it might have been better to be more subtle and less mouth-sounding. (A little sizzle to signify when the item has finished cooking would have been great, too, but that's just being nit-picky.)

Loved the aesthetic, loved the background music, and the art was adorable! Super fun game and great entry.

Very neat game. Played once and got to 85 orders. I think if it was still adding new items i would've lost sooner.

The garden seems a little too quick to me potentially. If i could see my plants more easily it might make it viable to make the grow time slower.

This game is just so much fun! The humor is also 10/10 in my books (planting and growing oil and combining it with more oil to make gasoline is right up my alley lol)
Definitely one of the best entries I've played in a while!
