Cool game and cute art style! I think it would be interesting to have a larger variety of weapons that do different things. The sound effects are very nice! Great game!

@ominusgalaxy44 I had so many plans for more weapons and enemies, but there are only so many hours in a jam... Might add some extra ones in the future if I have the time :v:

I noticed that you'd opted out of graphics, so I'm assuming it's an asset pack, which is a shame as the choice of the graphics was a really good one for this game. Still, the gameplay loop is very compelling; I was finding I was trying to collect weapons in order so I always ended up with an axe (which seems to be the best weapon).

I think this could be extended (keeping the graphics you're using) into a more indepth roguelite game. If you can make the combat a bit more melee-like (right now it's like firing bullets) where attacks may cancel out opponent attacks, and the range is shorter, I think that would work.

@amkingtrp yep asset pack, not good enough on the art department but glad you liked it. Definitely thought about making melee more melee like but projectiles just make it a lot easier. (And yeah maybe axe needs a nerf)

I love this game. It's difficult and unforgiving, but it makes you play again and again. You need to act fast and adapt to your environment and weapons all the time. Really feels like being a gladiator. The concept of picking up weapons to heal is great. And nice art style. Good job!

Here's my highscore:

Thanks for the feedback @zubspace you made me realise I never tried to get a high score on the final build. And yes the game ended up harder than I wanted it to be (not a lot of time left for tuning).

Fun game! I see a lot of potential for further development here, adding more weapon variety and stuff like that. I had a lot of fun with the existing weapons, they feel well made and polished. I think the game could be a bit easier, whether that be by spawning fewer enemies, getting rid of some ranged attacks, or decreasing the amount of knockback/damage you take.

cool game to be strategic about

I like the sound effects and the different weapon stats and the idea in general

This one's a great challenge! I like that you have to learn all the weapon styles and alternate between them constantly to keep your health up and keep the mob from growing too large. The range of each weapon also leads to some pretty interesting choices regarding where and who you want to fight at a given time. Another minor detail that I really thought was smart was the pool of weapons in the starting area, which serves not only as way to start with your preferred weapon type, but also an area to revisit later and replenish some HP in a pinch!

This is a very good game.
The fact that health, points, and change of ability are all linked to weapon pickups is very nice. It forces me to switch weapons in a nicer way than weapon durability does (in my opinion).

Really well done.
