That One About Ducks and Prophecy by Sidlis

[raw]
made by Sidlis for LD33 (JAM)
“All stories start with the primordial symbol of the duck. Often sublimated into the dominant imagery of the patriarchy as transformed by the performed nature of identity within the associated cultural context, the duck, or “Duck Major”, is at the root of the textual artifacts of all cultures. Presented in terms of its display, Dr. Verima has called the phenomenon “indicative of a phallogocentrism obsession of consumption” (99). The bill serves as both ingestion and penetrative phallic imagery.”

As a producer of duck-related content for this jam I was disappointed to find there wasn't an actual duck depicted in this game.

Short text-based game, no real narrative. Just a maze and a duck that isn't really a duck.

I think the looping effect back to the start from 'start the adventure' provides more confusion than it does meaning; presuming that was intentional.

I liked the chat interface and think that idea could be explored quite well in the future.

Entertaining commentary on the LD33 dev process. Unfortunately, the "game within the game" was buggy for me (got lodged in a wall the first time, second time it couldn't load). But I appreciate the meta attitude.

Woah! It's kinda twisted and I liked it! So bad that you don't have an actual goal :(
