The Pearly Gates Nightclub by DaVexx

[raw]
made by DaVexx for Ludum Dare 52 (JAM)

God just opened up a new night club in heaven, "The Pearly Gates". However, when he realized he needs someone to bounce the club for him, he called his friend Grimm the Reaper. Your job is to let those who've lead virtuous in, and to reap the sinners who have not.

Ever since Steve Jobs arrived in heaven, they have done away with old scrolls showing the sins of ones life, replaced now with the iReap. However, as this technology is fairly new, it doesn't differentiate between the sins and virtues of ones life. You must be the one to decide if the soul before you is worthy of partying in The Pearly Gates.

Note: This is my second time doing a game jam and my first time doing a Ludum Dare. This was a really fun experience and i cant wait for more jams! Sadly, I didn't finish everything I wanted to in time for the jam but it is what it is.

Interesting game I managed to score 9844. Some metrics for bad/good things seems a little bit off but it may be my subject opinion.

Loved the simple concept and all those different good deeds and misdeeds were a blast to read. The background club was pretty well done and the music was on point. It was a bit difficult to parse the "amount" for a single line though (ie "x16") for example, perhaps it would have been better without them. The sound at the end of the 60 seconds was really hard on the ears.

Overall a fun experience, mainly coming from the ideas you had for sins and virtues. Great work

The sound at the end :(
Otherwise a good idea.

I didn't notice the sound at the end became that. It might have got corrupted in the build. I've put out a new version with a fixed sound (hopefully!)

Other than the sound a cool little game, would recommend potentially making the text bigger and or adding images to make it quicker to scan over.

I got over 1M points. I guess I know how to throw a party!

I like the flashing lights of the nightclub.

You can get a pretty high score by just letting everyone in though.

The sound was good and set up a good mood in a night club (except for the ending). I think for a game that needs fast reaction, maybe the content to read can be reduced (or ordered the xN value, or giving some visual indication)?

I really liked the music and the vibe of this game. Just needed a bit more of an indication on how the accept and rejecting affected the score.
