Barn Busters

You are a farmer whose rapscallions have escaped! Welcome to Barn Busters where your goal is to harvest your herd as fast as possible. In this physics-based tower defense you need to place down traps and obstacles to knock the animals off the map in as few rounds as possible.

Controls

  • W to move the camera forwards
  • S to move the camera backwards
  • Left Click to select and place traps
  • Right Click to deselect
  • D to delete traps and a limited number of floor tiles
  • Scroll wheel to rotate traps
  • Left Alt to toggle first-person movement

Click the start round button in the bottom right to let the animals loose!

Game and Play & Rate

To play and rate our submission, download the Original-Windows version of the game on the itch link below.

(1/13/23) As pointed out in the comments, our original WebGL build has a lag problem. We have since decided to pull the WebGL version from our submission, and to update it with a more optimized WebGL-ready version of Barn Busters. This updated version features graphics optimization, price tweaks, and QoL buttons. I encourage people that enjoy our submission to check it out, but refer to the Original-Windows version for scoring.

Really innovative concept! I haven't seen too many physics based tower defense games before. The animals are cute, and the traps are well designed. It is very interesting to find new obstacle combinations that can destroy these critters. On a side note, definitely runs better on download. Great Work!

Fun title! I loved the song that plays when you are in the game. The dancing farm animals when they made it to the end were super cute! I loved the combination of physics puzzle and tower defense. Reminds me of the old flash games of my youth. Glad I was able to flex my RTX 4090 with the RTX feature!

What a cute graphic! I really like the idea of the game, and the execution of the game itself is great <3

This game is like if SAW Decided to retreat to the calm tranquil of the Midwest... and mercilessly slaughter his entire heard. Innovative!

This is fun! By the third round it felt like I was a little over powered, but that works great for a jam

Great game! My son and I got a lot of laughs and giggles out playing it. P.S. We used the same assets and used traps! However; yours were more fun. Great work!

Well as a (software) engineer I managed to engineer the perfect death trap... er I mean anti escape mechanism for the farm animals.

If you want to see my brilliant strategy, here is a gif:

and this is how it looked after some carnage:

Physics and ragdolls are always fun, and this game is no exception

lol this a wild concept. I wouldn't have thought of this from Harvest. It was super fun to just watch the chaos unfold, I was hardly playing optimally.

The tool I liked the most was just the tri-spinner. It had a whole lot of coverage and would easily bounce animals over to other nearby traps. I didn't realize I could carve out water myself until a bit later. It is definitely strong and you can set up some creative mazes with it.

I'm not toooo sure why but I can't finish the game. There are 2 animals left and I'm constantly knocking them off the stage. Ah well, fun game regardless and I'm very impressed with how many towers you bothered to put into it.

What chaos! During the first round, I thought that the currency gain was far too high, but for a short burst game, the satisfaction I got from being able to cover the entire map for round 2 brought me a lot of joy.

I did run into a bug where the 5 remaining animals refused to enter the field for Round 2, but I can't blame them, given the hellscape it was. One of the animals did manage to get whacked by a trap before the round even started, so not sure if that caused it to be confused.

Very cool entry! I enjoyed this one. Such diverse traps. I found it pretty hard to succeed, but I had a great time playing. I never did fully understand the water-placement stuff - seemed to be independent from the traps, which cost hearts? But it was fun.

Finally, a tower defence game I have enough patience to play. Poor animals tho :') They are such cuties

Haha, so much fun. Physics games are so dangerous to make, but you fully embraced the jank and it worked out wonderfully.
A great entry with a decent number of animal variations and traps, well done!

That was so much fun! I got really invested and ended up playing several times. I panicked every time I hit start! Nice simple music that suit the tone of the game. Great graphics, with a sleek menu design on the right. Nice work!

Such a fun idea! At first the task seemed impossible, because some traps looks so tiny, but I quickly found out that its best to jsut knock these cute animals out of the map
