Small bugs : (?)
- Sometimes the monster just stops moving and I have to release and press the arrows again in order to move again.
- is it normal that you can safely shoot the people from a greater distance than their range ?
That game would probably be great with a gamepad and an interface as beautiful as your monster.
The art is good, although I missed a stationary sprite, since you used some kind of skeletal animation it wouldn't be so hard to make it, if I'm wrong disregard this last part.
As for the gameplay, the concept is very solid and I loved the central mechanic, I think you could work on that post LD, the level design is ok as it avails the central idea very well, but still very simplish and that invisible wall at the end doesn't help.
The game feels unresponsive, the only indicator that I'm losing health are the disappearing bullets and the subtraction of the health variable which is very forgettable since it is quite small and generic.
Sometimes, the bullets go full barrel roll (start rotating and fly away), I really don't know what triggers this, it happens almost randomly.
Sound and music would be a great improvement over this initial build.
The morality system works well, but I couldn't find any immediate consequences for it, maybe it does in the ending but I couldn't find all the antidotes, so I can't really say anything about that.
Nice work!
I really like how the ending motivates you to play through again. I like how the player actually has a choice to be a monster or not, and the player isn't punished for whichever way they choose. It allows the game to simultaneously offer two different experiences, kind of like a good stealth game. With a bit more polish, an expanded version of this would make for an enjoyable full game.
There's a few issues with collision detection here and there but I really enjoyed this entry. It had some really tense/stressful moments, and involved a lot of strategy and timing to make the best out of the antidotes you find.
Nice graphics. It's only missing audio and more polish.
I'd say this was a solid entry overall.
Liked it a lot! Good job!
