Really cute little gameplay loop, and good use of the theme! I do wish that the difficulty would scale a little bit faster, but I enjoyed the concept and I LOVE the dynamic music! There are so many variations of the day and night themes and the way they transition with the sound effects is lovely

Really well polished art and music! The game almost forces you to drop your guard... as the number of vampires RISES! I found some of the mechanics a bit unresponsive. Particularly whether I hit or didn't hit a vampire seemed a little sketchy. On a more structural level, I didn't feel a lot of pressure during the chopping phase, as I never really had to go far. There's also no danger then so I dunno. The two phases just didn't really feel super cohesive. Each individually worked fine, but put together under the 10 second constraint and I dunno. The babies actually getting carried out of the orphanarium (great word!) was a nice touch!

Love the aesthetic of the game! Cool atmospheric audio, nice and clean visuals, smooth controls (I only had issues with killing via touchpad). It is a solid jam entry, keep it up!

I like animation of day/night cycle! In combination with music creates cool impression. And elevator sound for tombs is hilarious

I survived for 16 days. Yeah, as SmartAGamer said, not getting wood at all felled cruel. But when I noticed that trees are regrowing - I stopped to worry about supplies. Wasted opportunity to have replanting mechanic

Special thanks for WebGL version

This was fun and (in a good way) sressful game to play!
Really loved the overall feeling this game had and the day/night cycle was so well executed. I was worried that you'd need to run far away from the house to get more sticks but the regrowing of the trees work really well and eased the sress a lot. I would only improve the controls so the main character wouldn't be so slippery in their movements.

Amazing! The art, the audio, the gameplay - everything is extremely polished. I particularly love the added skill checks to get more stakes per tree, as well as the 3D sound of vampires spawning, making it easy to react/know where to go. Very well done!

I loved the art and sound design and the overall creepy but cute atmosphere. Although it was a bit hard to understand if I hit the vampires, I had a lot of fun playing it! Very well done!

Extremely cute graphics and animations, snappy controls and glorious premise and soundtrack! I had lots of fun playing it, but I'm sorry I couldn't survive the last night 😅 Well done to the whole team!

This is a cute game and scary!
The visuals are cute, the audio works awesome and the mechanics smooth, maybe a little too smooth.
For the first few nights it wasn't too bad, but then after the vampires started getting faster and faster and things got stressful, But in a fun way!
I survived up to day 18, but on later attempts found a way to survive up to 26 days.

Great game, thank you for making it.

This is my favourite so far! I like the mechanics of you getting farther and farther away from the orphanage as you cut trees around it. Nice and organic difficulty ramp, well done!

That was a butt clencher.

All of the elements came together really well. The music is great. The art is great. The pacing is great. The simplicity of mechanics is perfect for a jam game. Everything was super clear.

The only thing I would have liked to see was more positional audio on the spawning of the vampires, I lost a kid or two because they spawned on the opposite side of the building but I couldn't tell where they were since the spawn sound is centered.

Overall, a really strong entry, and you should all be proud of what you made.

Oh this was so fun! Only got to day 11, should have planned my early days better and optimized the tree-cutting phases. Overall, I loved the concept and atmosphere. The art and music were outstanding! Just wish there was a bit more feedback when staking the vampires. I laughed out loud when the vampire died and the orphan just nonchalantly walks back in the orphanage haha!

That was fun, but the movement feels... really slide-y? I felt a little out of control at times...and sometimes I'll use a stake and it just exploded onto the ground and didn't stake the vampire. I'm not sure what I did wrong. @_@;;

ABSOLUTELY love the art and music though!! The clay-like look is cute!!!

Everything was good about this, but the music really stood out - using the same theme but switching between two moods every 10 seconds, and the beat also gave you the clue when night was about to switch in. Well done

I survived until day twelve and then lost. It was great fun. The graphics are very original and the audio, which reflected day and night, is also perfect.

I would like it if the wooden pegs that I extract from the trees are collected automatically at a greater distance from them. Walking around stumps and other obstacles was a bit awkward.

I also appreciate the function that if the vampire does not have time to kidnap the orphan by morning, he will die thanks to the sun. I immediately felt that the game was fair.

This was great! The artist did such a great job on the models here! The gameplay was simple but it worked great and I really enjoyed the day/night modes! One night it wouldn't let me attack for some reason but the vampires were defeated by the sun!

The game feels polished, visual and audio feedback is good and the game manages to stay manageable and ends at a good point. Very well done! It feels like this team has worked together before!

Fantastic presentation! Love how well the music helps you get into the rhythm of the day night cycle without feeling like an impending timer. Had to cleverly strategize my tree-chopping to survive wave after wave. My only minor complaint is that the sheer speed of Ms. Brinsley makes it difficult to pick up stakes. Overall, clever and addicting! Would love to see this concept expanded on.

This is my 2nd 5/5 of the jam. Wow. I cannot believe how fun this was haha. The art was beautiful, the concept simple yet executed wonderfully. I absolutely loved it. Everything was wonderful and boy was it tough as nails, I just barely lost on the final level. I wish I had more to say but it's hard when everything is so good.

My only complaint would be the character controller being less than stellar. Simply fix that and you have an amazing game! I really hope that y'all continue working on it and make a full post jam release!

Great job friends :)

Love the art and the sound on this. Perfect game jam concept as far as reasonable mechanics and scope. The one thing that bothered me a bit was the movement. Especially to pick up the stakes, I felt like wildly going around the tree to pick it up. Also the first night I hadn't noticed i didn't pick up all my stakes - I had been focusing on getting as many trees as fast as possible lol.

SO FUN! And I loved the way the music would loop and let you know "OH NO THE VAMPIRES ARE ABOUT TO STRIKE!!!" But it was so polished and smooth and the tunes were bopping! Great game!

This was soooo pretty! I only lasted 13 days :( The whole mood and presentation are excellent. Art is really charming. My hat goes off to the music though. That was a really smart and well done way of providing atmosphere and more importantly notifying about the daynight change. Once I figured out that you can hit within the whole arc shown, then controls became a bit more fluent. Chopping down trees with the click timing was really neat as well. Overall impressive entry, really well put together!

Simply a great game, music, sound, graphics, everything felt done and polished. Two things though...
The stress of cutting down trees is very high, but it doesn't feel good to not collect the stake afterwards because of the fast movement-mechanics. Maybe the collection of the wood after cutting down the trees should be a little more convenient.
Second, I noticed a lot of children getting taken, even though I had only one left. Is that on purpose because there are more children and this is just the number I am allowed to lose?

I just want to say again, very polished game, I had a lot of fun
Steve7411
08. Oct 2022 · 14:51 UTC
@fribolin Yeah, that's the amount you're allowed to lose before you get fired :) We did that so the vampires wouldn't have to figure out something else to do when there were more vampires than children you could lose.

Really well done! The tree chopping mechanic felt good with the skilled timing. Picking up the stakes could be difficult at times, but I love the balance of having to collect enough during the day to be able to make it through the night. The arc in front of you was very nice to visualize where I could effectively interact with things.

Graphics, music, and controls were all great. Great entry!

I really liked the 3d models, I would have like to have a kind of claymation type animation to complete the illusion. Good work!
