Dragon Tax Return Simulator 2015

See the world through the eyes of a dragon. Fiddle with paperwork. Figure out arcane rules. Do lots of addition.

This game should be playable in a modern browser on a desktop computer. I haven't tested it on tablets but I'd be surprised if it worked.

Mini-FAQ

*Why are there no deductions?*
- Dragons rarely actually spend their hoards, so they have no expenses to deduct.

*Why does a dragon have a smartphone?*
- It's 2015.

*Is doing real taxes this hard?*
- Well, the simplest United States income tax form, the 1040EZ, is two pages long and has 43 pages of instructions. But on the other hand, most people have longer than 10 minutes to work on it.

I love the image of a dragon sitting in its study with a cup of coffee, working on this after a long day of trampling villages and eating knights.

I enjoyed this more than filing my real tax return.

Oh dear god, I hope paying taxes isn't like this in real life

BY THE GODS...YES
This is why i love Jams, where else would we see a tax return game? Based on Fantasy?

It's really really complex and i'm amazed you've pulled it off in two days. 5/5 in inovation for sure.

Oh god, so intimidating! Haha.
I wrote in the "do not write" space. The writing made me giggle.

The time limit is brutal, but really make you feel the pressure. By putting all the elements together you can see all the red tape a dragon would have to go through.

This is hilarious. I did miss a "Set fire to paperwork" button.

This is pretty hilarious. I would think dragons would have to capture some human to get them to write all this out. It would be torturous and they would probably beg to be eaten before it was over. I, however would rather do a dragon's tax return than my own.

this was awesome! It is a real shame that there is no sound, It. Great game! May the dragon god have mercy on your soul.

NICE! A tax return form! Such a responsible dragon. I didn't know dragons do tax return. I thought I am gonna breathe fire onto those.

Fantastic satire, as a Brit I've often wondered what it'd be like to be doing an American tax return form. Now I know!

It should be a sin to make a game like this and NOT port it to the mac. Shame on you.

Great idea, reminiscent of Papers Please, but very different and original. I failed badly, though, because of course I wrote in the 'Do Not Write' space!

brilliant. Simply brilliant. This is a hilarious idea which is executed on spectacularly well. The random generation helps prevent players from memorizing the procedures and keeps runs interesting, the option to request 5 more minutes adds a nice forgiving element that many jam games benefit from, the presentation is clean and manageable, and the writing adds a ton of character.
On top of all this, the post-jam print and play mode is a stroke of genius. At 20 pages a game, I can't say I'll be playing often, but I definitely want to try this thing out with friends at least once.
Well done, friend, well done.

Not a game for me...didn't like the joke and was bored staring at papers. I never felt monstrous for completing the tax return, if anything it felt conformist and dull.

My brain just exploded from gathering the documents to open my own company in real life, this one is nuts! And really well done! :P

It's just as complex as tax forms here in Brazil. I would've needed at least 2 days to gather courage to make this game, and I'd never be able to think about doing this. So that's some nice work you've done! :3

A dragon might be a monster, but taxes are really an even bigger monster! :P

I probably enjoyed this way more than filling real tax forms, which are -for the most of it- just as daunting, but way less entertaining.

Loved your take on the theme and if I were to change anything on this
game, would be adding music and probably an in-game calc.

Anyway, excellent work. Loved this one :)
