Space 10 is a physics-based infinite wave shooter. Dodge incoming fire while looking out for the Meteors and Supernovaes happening around you every 10 seconds! Your guidance system will warn you of these dangerous phenomena seconds before they take place. Try to last the longest, and post your highscores in the comments!

How to play

  • Your goal is to survive for the most amount of levels as you can without dying.
  • Waves of enemies get progressively more difficult as the game goes on.
  • Every 10 seconds there is a phenomena that threatens every character, you must avoid it by taking into account the warning from your guidance system.

Controls

  • WASD - Ship Movement
  • Mouse move - Rotate ship to look at mouse
  • Hold mouse down - Charge weapons and fire
  • Space - Airbreak
  • 1,2,3 - Weapon select (When unlocked)

Please note, some people may find the seperated movement of the mouse and the ship to be difficult to handle, I apologise for any inconvenience.

Notes

  • For this 1.0 release I unfortunately ran out of time to make music, or polish the game fully like I normally do for my submissions. There are many janky art assets and bugs in this version. I will most likely be making a post-compo release polishing up the game soon.

Engaging art and audio! Good Job!
the control is a little difficult for me. Lots of time, I was out of the screen
the enemies have heavy health. If I can destroy them easier, I would feel more excited I guess haha.
And why the explode doesnt hurt the enemies. it's not fair hahaha

all in all. Good job mate!

Very cool , I was struggling to control initially as I was fighting the recoil. Really like the graphical style, and the warning of incoming asteroids etc. Really liked the vector style.

Since you've committed to the post-dare version, don't forget that high score!

The graphics are nice for the mood. It did take me a bit to get my mind to accept that shooting in one direction meant I had to fly in the other. I was off the screen most of the time. Good stuff here and the 10 second blasts were very enjoyable.

Shot gun is the best in my opinion.

Very interesting arcade game, the graphics are simplistic but nice looking, the game is fairly challenging and fun, and it has a good amount of variety.

Love the visuals and the idea is super cool. Was expecting the typical arena shooter, but I actually love the whole 10 second aoe explosion thing. It feels a bit random if the enemies got caught in them or not, would have liked a bit more control either over them, or the enemies' paths. But aside from that small thing this is excellent!

I like the sound design as well as the graphiccs. Even though you use few shapes it brings a lot of fun. ![スクリーンショット 2022-10-04 185701.png](///raw/914/c2/z/5208f.png)

difficult control, but made quite fun. the sounds could become a bit annoying with time. nice work.

10 second theme would not have caught my eye

Cool game, very nice graphic effects. Enemies too bullet spongey for my taste, also, I think the only enemies that shoot are those from which you get upgrades, probably would be better if all enemies could shoot. I liked the retro sounds.

Quite fun to play, really like the visuals, vfx and sounds - creates a good retro aestetics.

Just like the first guy said, the enemies have lots of health. If I could destroy them a little easier, I'd feel better at the start

Really well made and polished game. As others have said, I think more enemies with less health would be better.

I LOVE the visuals and the dangerous events! Amazing work there. However, the recoil of the weapons makes them difficult to manage, and as others have said, the enemies are very hard to kill. Overall, though, great work!

The hazard mechanic is very, very good. I wish the recoil on the weapons was a bit less but that's 100% just personal opinion.

The visuals are simple yet oh so effective. I actually think the game would have been worse off with music, as it's messing with the classic Asteroids feel. Gameplay-wise it took me a minit to get used to it but after that I got hooked tryna survive. Loved this entry.

That was nice, I enjoyed it! I liked the minimalistic artstyle, and while I didn't get very far my first time, I still really liked playing through it ! It felt great zooming around the screen, though I wish there was a better way to lock onto enemies, as the 0 gravity makes it hard to aim correctly. I really would've liked having music in the background, though I can understand not being able to add it in time! ;)

It was really really fun, and I give you a congratulations for making it in 2 days! Super great!

Nicely polished little game, I can imagine playing this again while waiting.

about weapons:
Making the machinegun recoil the ship back is fine and can add a lot of strategy to the movement, but I don't think it fits well here. With hard to hit and high health enemies and small window screen (web build doesn't scale well by the way) it makes the ship too much uncontrollable. The shotgun is far superior and once I obtained it I never switched back to the machinegun.

The sound effects fit really well and bring a nice **oomph** - very satisfying! :)
Overall, very solid entry!

Nice game. Last LD I've made similar one, it was interesting to see a different approach to... well most things. Visual indicator for weapon warmups and ships being offscreen would have been an awesome addition. Spamming left click on a second weapon makes it more fun. I like that enemies are also affected by phenomena events. Phenomena effects were really nice. Very solid game.

Neat little game. My highscore... 1 I mostly let the dangerous events do the work for me, and also really can't aim well at all =). The recoil on the firing made it rather challenging to control the ship. I like the simple aesthetics and immediately understandable gameplay.

Nice game with cool style, and the design of guidance system is good looking. The enemies are pretty tough, and frictionless in the universe with recoil make the fight even harder, but I kind of enjoy this feeling being out of control.

This game would be improved massively by having wrap-around physics like Asteroids. That notwithstanding, this game rules. The physics based movement is super fun, and luring enemies into the path of enormous explosions to take them out is great. I also really like the minimalistic graphics. I do wish that hitting the enemies with my shots was a little easier. The bullets just feel really small. That, and the third gun seems useless compared to the second, even though it does a lot of damage.

This game really needed a bit of music, even a simple one to offset the sound effects. Overall it was alright, but I think what got me is the delay between mouse press and the shooting. Most of the time I'm already off screen due to shooting but when I try to shoot, the delay really didn't help. I think you had to choose either gun recoil or shooting delay, but not both. With such a small screen... really I just let the explosions deal with the enemies as I could not see where I was (trying to offset recoil by shooting constantly) or try to shoot carefully but getting so few hits in (due to the delay and zooming around quickly).

I did like the explosions. I thought they added a nice bit of spice to the whole thing.
