You can optimize (large boat, maximize price of passage, full but not overcrowded), but you will never be protected against some events. All the data (bribe, boat, number of people, money, length of the route) have multiple effects on the triggered events. You can always borrow money (it has consequences though)."},{"author_name":"uthamon","author_uid":"55697","time":"Aug 25, 2015 @ 12:05am","epoch":1440460800,"text":"I was curious how serious approaches to the theme are going to look and I was not dissapointed by Passengers. It actually reminds me of "Papers, Please", but with a more direct connection to real world issues. The money can affect how you see the passengers. Exited the business by filling a speedboat and blowing money I didn't have to get pixel people to Spain on a first come first serve basis. Best I could have done given the circumstances.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Oddly affecting, if a little heavy. The randomized traits for people (Dwarf Fortress style) were a great touch, it made the people I was ferrying oddly relatable in a way. I'm wondering how to add graphics to my game - I wonder how different art styles such as pixel art speak to the theme and the perceived 'seriousness' of a topic. It's also very interesting to try and model a real world situation into game rules. I think a debate about the rules themselves is part of what is really interesting - for example, how successful you are if you only take 'bad' people on your boat."}],"images":["ld33\/31242-7c33356dfd0ec6c37f695d589317adee.jpg","ld33\/31242-398a91be54c6975d2c668129d649c1b3.jpg","ld33\/31242-bc3ba728fc32d4c3843f964d51a067f4.jpg","ld33\/31242-bb678c2148c9930655f25af2d45b3f02.jpg"],"links":[{"url":"http:\/\/www.lexaloffle.com\/bbs\/?tid=2326","text":"Web"},{"url":"http:\/\/www.lexaloffle.com\/bbs\/cposts\/1\/13227.p8.png","text":"Source"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"8474","g_author":"31242","g_event":"LD33","g_eventkey":"29","g_subevent":"JAM","g_urlkey":"8507","g_title":"Passengers","g_status":"UCHK1","g_place":"21","g_commentcount":"31","g_site2_node_id":"0","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":[],"node":null,"orig_images":["http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/479518\/31242-shot0-1440421740.gif-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/479518\/31242-shot1-1440421740.gif-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/479518\/31242-shot2-1440421740.gif-eq-900-500.jpg","http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/\/479518\/31242-shot3-1440421740.gif-eq-900-500.jpg"],"text":"PASSENGERS is a game where you play a smuggler of migrants in Europe.\r\n\r\nMigrants are all over the news.
