Party is Over by LauraHur

[raw]
made by LauraHur for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

Party's over!! Your parents are coming home and the place is a mess.. Clean it out before they get beck

Main controls are: (Right click) --> cycle action between look and grab (T) ----> Toggle to do list (Esc) ----> Exit the game

With "grab" you can interact with objects on the screen or on your inventory (displayed on the bottom of the screen). If you selected an item in your inventory you can deselected by pressing right click. With "look" you can look at any interactable object and get a bit of info about it or a possible hint.

Unfortunately when you finish and you go back to the title screen the game doesnt reset, so if you want another go /9hope you do) you have to close it and open it again.

I interpreted the theme by adding a counter that shrinks every 10 seconds. I tried to simplify my idea to something that I could accomplish using Visionaire Studio (with little experience). It's the first time I attempt a jam on my own, I'm normally in a team where I just stick to the graphics and coming up with the gameplay. Hope you enjoy it! Constructive criticism is welcomed, but please be kind!!

Cool game! I love point and click adventure games so this is right up my ally and you had some very fun actions you could do (using the saw haha!).

Only complaint is I found the mouse cursor icon a little strange, I found it took a little bit to get used to selecting things with it. That might just be me though :) I also like the aesthetic and art style a lot but I think the text should be a little bit more readable.

Nice game! The take on the theme feels a bit...weak, would be fun if something more unusual happened every 10 seconds. Couldn't figure out what to do with the dude & the stains, unfortunately. It also took me quite a while to realize you can use the items in your inventory, and the right click to change from looking to acting is really confusing at first. Maybe adding a better, more detailed description would help? (not necessarily in-game, just on the game page.) The text is way too blurry, hard to read on a large screen :(

A side note: the site thinks the game is playable in browser, which it clearly isn't :) And what engine is that? My guess is it's your own engine, judging by the archive content. Kudos for SDL2 :)

Thanks for the feedback @lisyarus ! I'll put something on the front page to clarify the controls a bit better. I attempted to embed the html but I just havent figured out yet what's wrong with it...
I made this with Visionaire Studio, is meant for point and click graphic adventures. I want to do a project of my own and this was an exercise to learn a bit more about it. And yeah, the take on the theme is a bit weak alright haha Just wanted to set myself something that I thougth I could accomplish

Nice entry! It made me laugh when I realized that I could turn off the music. XD

This game shows a great sense of humor (Also black humor like the passed out dude)

Haha, this is a cool entry. I like the clean-up theme, actually it would be great to have games where you need to put things back to normal vs. escaping. The chill music was cool and the atmosphere was also super nice! :) Well Done.

If you're seeing this error, it means I can't find your index.html file.

This usually means you created your .zip file by zipping the entire folder, and index.html is somewhere like MyGame/index.html. If you recreate your .zip with index.html file in the root, this error should go away.

See the embedding guide for more details. ludumdare.com/resources/guides/embedding/

Really liked the game's humour and it's a fairly unique concept. The overall aesthetic is pretty nice but the text is a bit blurry and hard to read on a high resolution monitor. It was really fun trying to figure out what to do with a few things like the passed out guy (although maybe I should be concerned I instantly figured it out once I got the saw).

Really enjoyed this one. I think it was a bit of a stretch for the theme (especially since nothing *really* changes at the interval) but the game itself was really solid. Graphics were excellent (I like the classic point-n-click aesthetic) and the clown did nothing wrong.

I think that the only problem with this game is matching the theme. There doesn't really seem to be anything happening every 10 seconds...

However, this is a great point and click game with excellent writing and puzzles. I also really enjoyed the graphics and presentation. I wonder what the clown's wrath would be?

Overall excellent entry.

Fun one! I really enjoy games like this and I think they are excellent for LD game jams.

Some notes:
- Text was a little hard to read with the drawn font
- ESC instantly bringing you out of the game was just slightly annoying. Maybe a warning would work before exiting completely because I had hit ESC accidentally a few times instead of "t" to toggle the list.
- I actually thought the take on the theme was great! I enjoyed it and definitely felt the pressure of dad coming home lol.
- Music was well done!
- The saw item took a litle bit of pixel-hunting to find but the outcome has definitely made the game memorable for me! Will get some added humor points for this game jam.

Great job! I had a lot of fun with it.
