About:

It's the apocalypse, society has collapsed and the sun is slowly roasting the earth. Navigate the wasteland to reach the only helicopter left on the planet with tinted windows and working AC. Grab any water you find on your way and make sure to avoid the killer waves of radiation that bathe the environment every 10 seconds. "Slowly" may not have been the correct choice of words.

Really like this one ! The character control feels good and the graphics are beautiful. I am just sad that there is not more levels. Anyway nice job.

Amazing game! I felt like I got physically stuck at some points where I expected to just glide past the obstacles, but that is just a minor problem. Other than that, your game has both beautiful graphics and a nice moody atmosphere. I also loved the challenge (or maybe I am just very bad with jump and run games). Keep up the good work!

I really liked. specially the controls and the take on the theme. Just a pity that there is no actual use for the collectibles that you find.
The ambientation is very good and the graphics are awesome.
Very good job here!

Amazing work! Really enjoyed playing this :) Art style is great, the movement feels great, and I love how you worked with the theme. Those particle effects are beautiful <3

Finished in 2:21.284 with 6 of the collectables. Are there more to find?

@tommo120 Thank you! That's a solid time. There're 7 collectables in total, so one more for you to find... happy hunting!

This is fantastic. It controls really nicely for the most part, although I did find it a bit challenging directing some of the jumps. The visual and audio cues for incoming radiation blasts are very intuitive - I didn't read the whole description before playing (user error, I know) but despite that it was still obvious. Love the little sounds of jumps landing as well, so satisfying!
Graphics and background music do a great job at selling the moody wasteland theme, and the particle effects give it a lovely polish.
Tiny critique on the visuals is that because of the limited colour palette, it's hard sometimes to differentiate between the walkable surfaces and background art (specifically in the tower building at the end), but overall really impressive. Well done!

Really neat small game, very easy to understand each concept straight away. I really liked the graphics and the overall tone, though the controls were a little fiddly - I seemed to slip off ledges and miss jumps when I wasn't expecting. In any case, really nice! Got 2 minutes with all collectibles :)

That light effect is so cool!!! I loved the feel of this one, the art and music came together really well. I wish there was a bit more to the story and gameplay, because the environment was so incredible!

Love the theme and idea of the game! The combination of the dramatic story and gameplay blends very nicely. Visuals are very nicely well-done. They lured me into playing this game and certainly made a lasting impression on me...I felt a bit hard to control when jumping but otherwise meticulous. Collectible didn't feel like doing anything rn but maybe can trade for some power-ups...? I'm obsessed. Please keep on making games like this!!

Really nicely done. Simple premise, executed well. The graphics and sound really nailed the feel, and the 10-second cadence with the ramping up sound effect to indicate impending doom got a genuine OH GOD RUN FOR COVER urgency reaction.

Would love to know a little bit more about the world, but the minimalism is an effective choice.

Job well done overall.

I truly enjoyed this game. Short but hey it's a jam and sometimes I don't have time to finish platforming epics, and your game made me want more, which is rare.

A large part of why I enjoyed it was the atmosphere of the whole thing. The music really suits the mood and the sound flourishes are well implemented. Given the lack of a rating for the audio I guess you didn't write it and you got the effects elsewhere? I wish I could rate it though, if you just had a disclaimer for where you got them from.

You chose the palette well. The radiation effect was suuuper well done, perfect. The water canisters were the only jarring graphical thing, maybe you could have edited them to desaturate at least. Also like others have said... I'm glad to have something to collect, cos I'm a gamer, but some sort of weight to it would be nice.

The platforming aspect was really good but a little floaty so I found it hard sometimes.

The graphics and mood on this are off the charts. I love what you've done here; a simple style that just *bleeds* aesthetic.

Movement wise, I found the character to be a bit fast and floaty; not entirely sure how to describe it but I often found myself wishing I had better control; especially in the end section. This could just be a skill issue, but it felt like the character had a bit too much momentum perhaps? I did feel like the fast movement helped with the urgency, which was good.

On Level design, I saw a lot of sections where I just BAAARELY couldn't make a jump unless I hopped up one tile higher before jumping. This was a bit annoying, but often forced me to move into the light; if that's the intention with these jumps then my annoyance is probably more on the movement not letting me execute the precise jumps I wanted to do there.

Ultimately this game is just lovely. The art, the music, and the feel are just spot on. It didn't have any of the common platformer jank like sticking to walls, and the controls felt like some care was spent trying to tune them even if they weren't my taste.

Nice work!

@benk Thank you for the kind words. You're right, we opted out of the Audio rating as the music and effects were from royalty free sources. Those are credited on the itch.io page, I think we forgot to put them on this page! For reference, the music was "Ether Vox" from the wonderful https://incompetech.com/

@fireslash Given more time I would have loved to smooth over some of those off-by-one tile jumps you describe. Part of it does add additional challenge but I totally understand what you mean when it feels like there's a tad too much momentum sometimes!

Awesome atmosphere! I really like your choice of sound effects and music, fits well!
The visual effect for the radiation is nice and the game fits the theme.
I appreciate that you added checkpoints, I think that's essential for this type of game and many don't add that.

I would've liked some more variety (moving platforms etc) but that's totally fine for a jam :)

This is one slick package oh my. The juicy PHOOOM of the sun burst, pretty VFX and I really quite like the weighty feel to the character - adds to the tension dashing those gaps. Just wish there was more game, perhaps a spin on the main mechanic towards the end. Hope this gets a post-jam version!

Dig the aesthetic. Cool concept. Reminds me a bit of End Is Nigh.

Very nice graphics. There were a few parts where you could only discover through trial and error that there was a gap wide enough that you had to wait for a pulse before crossing or you would not make it. I guess maybe it would be nice if there was some kind of minimap or indicator how far it was across, but that might detract from the minimalist presentation. Overall, nice job!

Really really beautiful, the extra visual effects blend with the drawn sprites perfectly. I like how stylised the game is while still keeping so much visual clarity, you immediately understand what you're working with. For me the controls felt great, I found there was a good amount of weight to the movement without feeling like I lacked control. I'd love to see more if you expanded on this!

Hey @fuse-in-a-bowl / @bradleypollard - I was looking through my past reviewed games, and remembered yours. I liked it a lot but commented about the sfx/music. I wanted to ask if you'd be down for me helping out with that next time you do a jam, let me know on discord (btkal#5723) maybe?

@benk thanks! I had a chat with the guys and we're cautious about adding a stranger to the group just before starting a new jam (both personality-wise and security-wise, I know I have added some passwords to our Github secrets that someone malicious with repo-access could get at if they tried). I'll add you on Discord and have a couple of chats before the next LD and see if we get on :)
