The Game

Shoot endless waves of enemies and collect crystals in this movement based first person shooter. You're equipped with a magic tome capable of rapid firing spells and summoning explosive magic missiles. Equipped with a dash you navigate an ever-changing heavenly arena that only keeps it's shape for 10 seconds. Collect as many crystals as possible without getting killed.

Purple crystals recharge your dash - chain them together.

Please note that this game is extremely difficult. Good luck.

this felt like a horror game but that's probably because my nerves are completely shot anyway lmao. once i figured out how to get through the like, purple things to get on top of the columns the controls felt pretty solid, the gunplay felt nice, all in all LG imo

Definitely digging the graphics style. Reminds me of playing Hexen back in the day.

You're not kidding about this being hard. I'd have liked to have a tiny bit more margin of error in terms of dealing with the enemies so as to be able to focus a little more on the platforming aspect. My technique could probably be improved, though.

Without the gameplay video I would not have known, how to get to the book in the first place.

I really like the Devil Daggers art style and the feeling of the proyectiles, but I would love some settings for the cursos sensitivity.

Very challenging! Great aesthetic though. I think I'd have been able to get into it more if there was a more clear indication of where enemies were, and when one was getting close (some kind of audio or visual cue). Fun controls though and great art style!

I played this one on stream last night! unfortunately the VOD got muted, so no link :(

I had no idea what I was doing most of the time - I managed to figure out the first jump and shoot a bunch of... eyes? o.o

the hit marker sound effect made shooting feel pretty satisfying, and the aesthetic was pretty cool!

Really neat looking game. Constructive thoughts: I often got hit from behind, some visual or audio indicator would go a long way to stopping that frustration.

The look is quite unique! Liked the visual. Also the hit marker sound was pretty cool. I tried multiple times. I find it hard to do the jumping/dashing and also focus on not getting fried. Maybe it would be better to just get a double jump from the purple thingies instead of a dash at the direction you facing. With the double jump you could aim at enemies and shoot and still make it to the crystal, but it is just an idea. What do I know? Also would be cool to have multiple levels instead of always beginning at the same spot. Sorry for all the critic and ideas, but I really cared for your game. I love Neon White and this reminds me of it. I think that's why. Had fun playing!

Was pretty fun, but I didn't bother going for crystals at all because that part wasn't fun. Sometimes the eyes would clip into the ground, so it was hard to see them. If they hovered a minimum distance above the ground, it would help a lot. Also, if the sound design was just a little better, because it was difficult to know when enemies were behind me. I spent a lot of time seeing how far I could get, it was pretty addicting.

Wow I got so much fun of it, but didn't understand what am I doing except of surviving
And it was horror for me, I actually really scary about feeling of follow, so this game was really emotional for me to play haha. Actually a little bit frustrating, because eyes fly really fast and if you try collect crystal they just follow you and you can't shoot the while you dash, because you looking towards your direction of jump, so I collected only 2 crystals while played 15 minutes of games and that was my peek of emotions haha
Overall I really liked everything in your game, great job

The art and sound are wonderful! When I jump it feels like I'm in heaven ^_^ But sometimes it's hard to get right to the enemies and sometimes I just didn't see them so I died fast.
Amazing work, anyway!

Wow, the graphic style is _really_ cool, I love it!

I really enjoyed the ambience -- the sounds, the clouds are really cool. The mechanics of the game were nice, but it felt like the difficulty ramped up a bit too much with no let-up. I enjoyed the bullet-hell-with-eyes, but it gets a bit tiring when it's literally non-stop, so adding in waves or a similar mechanic would help with that IMO

Overall this was really cool and memorable, nice work!

Really liked the style of this game, but found the gameplay a bit frustrating. Took a bit to figure out the dash/platforming mechanic, only for it to switch to an fps. Would have been nice if the enemies made some sort of sound or had direction indicators as I found myself dying to enemies off screen a lot. :)

Loved the graphics enemies and general vibe of the game. Was a cool idea to mix these timed platforming challenges alongside an arena fps. The feel of the dashing didn't work great for me, but it was a cool idea and I would have had fun if it was a bit tighter or easier to use. I do like a difficult game but I didn't have it in my to sit with this one too long considering I couldn't even get a single crystal lol. I liked what you were going for though!

I agree with your assessment of this game being extremely difficult.
The boost mechanic was hard to figure out because most of the time I would just die trying to jump into crystals. There are way too many eyes and they move way too fast for the player to focus on anything other than surviving.

The graphics are nice (reverse Devil Daggers) and so are the sound effects, but I think the sclera of the eyeballs should have been a different color to make them easier to see in the very bright atmosphere

Graphics wise I really like the game! The concept is good but could use some more in-game tutorials and whatnot to get me used to the game play first (hard to do in a jam but at least the video was there to assist). Could use some more audio like for the eyes so I don't jump out of my chair after turning around for a second and see a giant eye 2 feet from me lol.

Ok it was HARD (you said it but I figured how right you were pretty soon). The mover is the hardest thing to manage, as the ennemies pattern are thankfully pretty obvious. The sound design was good, but I'm huge sucker for the graphism. Overall, a good game wich require patience and determination. GG!

It looks really nice graphically, but once you actually start the game everything feels very off. sometimes rounds ended on the moment I started them, and there's a lack of actual feedback when killing enemies and dying

Seems to be a few bugs, but I have to say that I love the way this game looks. So cool!
