I made this game in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 51, where the theme was "Every 10 seconds." This was my first Ludum Dare game. The source code is available as a ZIP file below. The game was made with Godot 3.5, graphics were made with GIMP, and sounds were made with sfxr and BeepBox. The font used is HelvetiPixel by pentacom (released into the public domain).
Please leave feedback including any and all comments, criticisms, and compliments! Thank you!
Changelog:
V2: Added support for other locales. If using an AZERTY keyboard, it should now allow you to play with ZQSD rather than WASD. (This update should have no effect if you were already using a QWERTY keyboard layout.)

On the critique side, the audio's fine, and art definitely needs work, but there is never a question in how to play the game which is good.
For drawing, I personally use **Krita** (from KDE), which is optimized for painting, but it has pixel art tools too.
- **GIMP** is a similar story, but more popular.
- I've also heard **Photoshop** is good if you pay for it.
- If you're more interested in 3D, you can look into using **Blender**.
In terms of learning, go online and look for resources on the **basic principles** of art **(3d forms, composition, color theory, etc.)** and then look into each of those, **practicing each of those skills as you go**.
And finally, don't forget to **have fun**! If making art is becoming boring, try a new kind or take a break and come back to it.
I like the little song as it suited well with the game. Very nice work :D
It's Remember me some old shmup
Would hate to start over with the same. ha ha Nicely balanced overall.
As always I tend to focus on the bullets and not the enemies so I had to dodge too much to actually kill them... ha ha ..
Well done.
I thought that was a really neat decision! Great job.
I did suffer from some bad frame drops, but nothing I couldn't deal with ^^ great first LD!
I tested the game on my laptop only after the deadline, and I noticed it could lag a bit (down to about 30 fps for me). But on my desktop (pretty beefy, AMD 5800X/RTX 3070), it ran at 144 fps no problem. I wonder if upgrading to OpenGL3 and using GPU particle effects would have made it faster?
its could be due to the browser I used, OperaGX which is Chrome based.
Hope that helps
To be critical as well: Obviously the art could be better, although I think it's okay. If there was a neat UI and font fitting the style of the sprites, perhaps a nice background or light effect for the player/bosses/bullets or something, it would certainly be a solid style!
I like the gameplay and audio as they are. Simple, but fun!
Its nice what you got out of very basic textures.
One thing which would be really cool would be some powerups for better weapons and some more levels.
