miam by yopox

miam is a cooking game in which you have to make burgers by pressing the letters corresponding to the ingredients. However, the chef keeps changing his mind and changes the menu every 10 seconds!

Minor spoilers below! The key corresponding to an ingredient is written around brackets [].

- Title screen:
- [c] Classic mode (start with a basic menu)
- [d] Madness mode (start with a full menu and less time to prepare burgers)
- [u] Mute / unmute the music
- Cooking screen:
- The key associated with each ingredient is shown in the menu on the left of the screen (and also on this page)
- [space] / [enter] Send the order
- [backspace] Remove placed ingredients
- Game over screen:
- [m] / [i] / [a] / [m] Return to title

Graphics and musics/SFX go very well with the game!
The music, sounds, and pixel aesthetic is charming. Their is a wonderful personality to the characters and the ingredients. The gameplay clicks easily, and the separate modes adds a lot to the replay-ability of this. Your team did an amazing job with this. I can easily see myself coming back to play this again.

Love the graphics, well done!
It was chaos and I loved it.
But when I couldn't figure out what bacon was the shortcut for I baiiiiiiiiiiiled.
The music was great, the visuals were great if sometimes leaving me feeling a bit confused when new things popped up (I thought the mayo was melted cheese for a bit till the menu board told me otherwise).
I genuinely loved how you managed the menu board - even if it did end up leaving me confused. If I wasn't so tired I would have kept going on for as long as possible.
Loved it, thank you.
I also thought "backspace" removed a single ingredient as opposed to the whole burger, but I guess that's part of the challenge. I like the look of everything and the Chef changing ingredients to make it so you almost have to throw out a burger if that ingredient is gone is an interesting mechanic. Great job overall!

Some thoughts:
- I love how the worker writes on the left board
- It's very hard to keep the names of every ingredient. The difficulty curve goes too fast for my taste
I managed to get a decent score i think, although i don't really know what that font says! The game was very well made. I have issue with somee of the native keys for some words, like "N" for mushrooms or "A" for bacon or "S" for steak. I probably would've used "M" for mushrooms and "H" for *ham*burger haha. Good stuff tho!
Overall this was really fun and a well scoped game jam game. After one playthrough I understood 90% of the game. After the second I had learned the rest. And then I got this sick high score!
EDIT: I played madness mode. Let me know if someone beats my score otherwise I'm hanging up my apron for now.

It takes a bit time to get into which key is which, maybe a mouse-click control would be a nice addition...
Well done!
Love the art style
Good stuff :8ball:
Great job on the pixel ingredients and the audio matching them. Got a score of 3995
Only critique would be the inclusion of the theme as you start with more than 10 seconds and decrese the time to increase difficulty
Thanks everyone for the nice words!
Great polish and amazing feeling when completing a tall burger,
but felt a bit to punishing when you have missed like one ingredient early but did the rest correctly,
so you have no incentive to complete the burger correctly one you did one mistake
