Such a short notice to move all the boxes and leave the green door... by Parpello

[raw]
made by Parpello for Ludum Dare 51 (COMPO)

"Such a short notice to move all the boxes and leave the green door in this cursed mansion I call home (the game)" is a sokoban style game, but every 10 seconds the whole game resets (with some exceptions...).

Go through the green door to win the game.

Move with WASD, reset with R. That is all.

Oh, and go full screen with Alt + Enter

I generated the sfx with jsfxr, all the art was done in Inkscape. I didn't do any music because I didn't want to subject your ears to my truly horrifying compositional skills (maybe next time!)

There could be some bugs, and sorry for the lack of menus, I'm getting tired. This is my first game jam! Compo to be precise! So exciting! So tiring! I will need much more ibuprofen.

Hope you have fun with this little wretched creation of mine. Love you all.

Fun classic gameplay, not much innovation though. Played without any problems! Nice snappy title ;)

Interesting game. The graphics are simple and pleasing, no visual clutter and very easy to see what you have to do. The player controls feel responsive, but sometimes it is easy to "overshoot" the player, but this is mainly a matter of practice. The 10 seconds timer reset is very harsh though! i never managed to get past 3 buttons, as the game kept resetting. Maybe add more checkpoints?

Thank you for your feedback! Programming the movement was the hardest part, maybe because of experience, but I couldn't find a synthesis between the precision of grid movement (necessary for pushing boxes in such a short time) and the fluidity and speed of free movement (that on the other hand would've created imprecision pushing boxes)... Maybe in another iteration I could figure this out. I thought of adding teleports in some areas of the level as a sort of checkpoints, but I felt it would've been detrimental to the gameplay on the other hand, I feared it could've make it too dull and repetitive.

Very challenging. I like how you have to use the boxes from previous areas.

The download works, but in Brave Browser, I get "Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag."

Sorry about that, from what I've recognised it's a common issue on ldjam, I will try to upload it on itch.io for epople with this bug

Ayy, I won. At first I was like "It's so stupid that you respawn all the way at the beginning each time". But then I started opening paths near the beginning and I was like "Oooh, that's so cool". I loved how you could use boxes from different areas on whichever button you wanted. As more areas opened up, the possibilities of what you had access to increased which is really cool. My main complaint is that there's no way of telling which buttons are related. For the final 2, you kinda just have to assume which two need to be pressed at the same time based on context clues. Would be nice if they were color coded or something. Seriously, great idea for a game and I could see myself playing a full version with enough new levels.

It took me an awful amount of time until I realized what to do. But when I did, it flowed!

At first, I thought this was a cliche puzzle. Then it hit me every 10 seconds XD

It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do, but once I did, I really like the idea! Getting the second puzzle done in time took me forever, I kept taking to long because I struggled so much with the movement (kept overshooting). After that it got a bit easier for a while. Good entry!

gotta admite this game was too difficult for me at level 2, I don't know how it's possible to finish the game at all lol. the game itself is really cute, reminds me of the Portal series (exept there are no portals). I like the art style and the panic it made me feel all the time!!!

This was a fun little game. I wish there were a few checkpoints though, it was really difficult to navigate all the way through the entire map every 10 seconds.

It was hard to finish !
I find very interesting the concept of the level that restart but your progress stays, so you have to reuse some blocks and think about which one is the best to activate multiple switches in the narrow time frame.
I think the game is a little too hard, the controls are pretty hard and leave no room for a mistake.
For the next Ludum, don't forget to support Azerty keyboard ;-)
Congratulations for your entry.

Really liked your entry!! Spent more time on it than I thought :)
To support all keyboard layouts, in Godot you can use "Physical key" and it maps to the physical key on the keyboard space, therefore you don't have to register every keyboard input for each layout! :)

Interesting. I think if I had to actually mash the keys each time instead of it looping I would have been able to control it better. I like the concept of slowly figuring it out but I kind of wish I would have known I was supposed to be looking for that at the beginning, because it took me a really long time to figure that out. Also the name of the game is hilarious; I love it. Nice entry!
