Potat-OS by JMad
Help your loyal Potat-OS computer survive the surge of popups! Otherwise, your RAM might go over capacity...
👾Play on itch.io!👾

Some mini-games had full assets done, but were not implemented during the Jam. They will be added shortly in a post-jam version, with some polishing and bug fixing!
/!\ Known issues :
- attempting to move the starting popup may cause the game to freeze
- ChampagneShower.exe has keyboard controls (W-S / up-down) - we sadly didn’t have time to implement the feedback animations and there were also other minigames requiring keyboard controls. However, the hitboxes are quite lenient.

Loved seeing another OS game, and this one was very well executed, well done!
@jvdwijk Maybe a flappybird like version is better to do all game with mouse. More intuitive. We think about it.
Great idea and art. Really nice game.
I'm giving this one HIGH points.
The darn champagne shower and Tinder games were the most difficult ones.
I wonder... is Potat-OS a reference to Portal 2?
- we sadly didn't have time to implement the feedback animations before the submission deadline
- the controls with keyboard instead of mouse like the other games wer not supposed to be misleading, there were originally other minigames requiring keyboard controls that we didn't have time to code into the game either, we realise the lack of instructions can mislead
- the hitboxes are REALLY lenient

(i admit to a rage quit on the champagne...)
and, now that I read your comment... I'm even tempted to go back!
I still don't know how to beat ChampagneShower.exe - so I presume that's what kills me errytime.
Thanks for making it!
I think the graphics are really original, and the whole windows 3.1 / XP feel is very nostalgic and works well together with the pop-up-hell :)
check out me jam game
Nice game, good job guys!
@zungryware That's a small easter egg pointing to a game some of us worked on (LD46), we figured once you try a few, you would get the answer eventually hehe.
Luckly this was a common issue so coming to the entry page solved all my questions.
Besides that, I liked the use of the theme very much, it was a nice way to be able to put different minigames in a group project.
Nice work!
Maybe would be nice if you could bring tabs to front by clicking on them, that way you can select which puzzles solve first.
Excellent work team!! :smiley_cat:
I didn't see the game with the little guy from Lil Trash Friend ! But his presence in description is still cool. ;)
I had too some problems to understand the champagne game. But I quickly understood. And I don't know if you could have this game with the mouse.
Good job !
GarbageSnackz.exe sadly did not have time to be implemented. Glad you liked @sersie's boi, Morgz! His game would be a small labyrinth, where you have to collect his dinner.
But that's only a very minor gripe, Potat-OS is definitely one of my top games from the jam :)
Without reading the "Known issues" section, I'd never figure out that the Champagne minigame is controlled with a keyboard (as literally everything else is mouse). That feels a bit silly. It would also be nice to actually grab and drag the things to the plant in the feeding game.
My favorite one was the Memory - both for the gameplay and the graphics (love the colors on that one!).
