Da Bomb! by Cal

[raw]
made by Cal for Ludum Dare 51 (JAM)

Your crew have boarded the ISS Last Dab. The ship has been overrun by crazed crew members, infected by a cannibalistic virus. Your mission is to gain control of the ships systems through various terminals. Use your crew's unique abilities to your advantage. However, the virus is taking hold, and only one is able to think for 10 seconds before needing rest. Good luck!

The Crew: * Sgt. Hot Pepper: Ex-Military special forces, useless at complex tasks, but packs quite a punch in a brawl. * Dave the Engineer: His quick reactions allow him to perform well under high pressure tasks, his spanner isn't too bad for hitting zombies too. * Dr Ronald Reaper: The smartest man left alive, his massive brain excels at memory tasks but he is not as young as he once was and struggles to keep up with the rest of the group. Would lose an arm wrestle to a baby. * Da Bomb: Who knows how he got into this mess but he finds himself with a bomb strapped to his chest, as a result he runs around like a headless chicken and has no focus when attempting to complete tasks. One thing for sure, don't let him die as the explosion may kill you all.

The Tasks: * Panel Passcode: Memorise then reinsert the pattern that appears on the screen to solve this task * Energy Flux: Test of your reaction time, press the button when the energy pulsar is in the green zone to complete

Remember you're never safe from the zombies, both you and your friends are most at risk when you are in the terminal.

This is a really fun game. Kind of like singleplayer among us with zombies. I like it!

I thought that doctor in your team could heal other teammates. Expected that different characters would fight differently.
The theme is interesting though.

70! Cool Concept! I like the Hot Ones References! Makes me wonder if y'all work on the show ;-P but cool game! I liked how the puzzles were more difficult depending on the character you had control of. Unfortunately, All but one of them died on me, so I didnt get to see everyones. Good Job!

Finished the game, it was quite enjoyable. The tasks could have had some extra variety, but the game was still fun!

I see how the idea was implemented in your game, and that's neat. On the other side of things i found myself in a bug where the panel just wouldn't disapear and i was hit and got stuck in the wall never to return haha! I can see a nice potential to the game, good job!

Nice audio! Liked the concept and also the puzzles are fun. Would have been cool to see a different mini-game for each terminal. Good job :)

Great, fun concept. Found the directional use of the mouse made it a little hard, but I am using a trackpad on a laptop. Enjoyed the little mini-games :) Amazing amount of work in such a short time!

Fun! I actually prefer minigames to be a part of the adventure like this rather than being thrown at you one after another with no context. Well done!

Neat game! The chaos of switching crew was pretty fun to juggle. In the end I had one person left, and then just decided to run away from all infected, which was surprisingly effective.

I love the idea of switching characters every 10 seconds, I'd considered something similar but decided against it. It does, however, end up being frustrating when you're trapped as one character and you need a different character to attack the zombies or complete a terminal task.

The first time I played, the engineer somehow glitched out-of-bounds and couldn't move anymore, and the second time, I was unable to pass the terminal game. I don't know whether I'm doing it wrong, but it doesn't seem to work at all - red squares flash up, you click them, and the terminal just goes "nope" and closes on you. It doesn't make sense to me. Then Da Bomb got killed by the zombies and killed everyone else as well.

I want to like this game, but it needs work.

Took me a moment to realise fighting the zombies was futile.
I had an easy time running through the game after that. I think i only had one type of puzzle spawn for me.
An interesting idea, though given the small scope, the 10 second switch turned out to be more of a minor inconvenience than a nuanced effect. But there's something there, it can be built upon!

Fun game! I think the art, animations, audio, and gameplay itself were all very fun and high quality. My one downside was that the puzzle pattern had these very fast glitches where it would display a red square sometimes at random (for a very very short period of time), and I thought that this was the pattern for a few minutes so I would be wrong over and over. I think without that little glitch it would have made that puzzle a little more straightforward for me but other than that you did an amazing job!
