Clothwork is a game about preparing for a boss fight as quickly as possible, and retrying as many times as it takes to succeed.

You play as a small plush toy in an abandoned closet. You're given thirty seconds and a handful of generic "cube-like" material. Craft planters and grow plants, forge stronger tools, brew useful potions, and accessorize your room... all while keeping an eye on the clock.

Unfortunately, a functional demo of Clothwork wasn't completed, but the general design was. The game was divided into two major halves, the first being a hasty resource manager combining elements of Overcooked and Stardew Valley, while the latter is a swift and deadly top-down similar to Legend of Zelda and Hyper Light Drifter.

Losing to the boss would put you back in the Preparation Room, where some of your more resilient blocks would remain, but you would need to regrow plants and start the process of collecting materials all over again. You can also grow more time itself, but these plants would only blossom after your run restarts, occupying valuable planters in the process.

The dichotomy of a farming-like and a rogue-like makes us feel like Clothwork was an interesting concept, but required a lot of initial work to bear fruit. That being said, our team had a lot of ideas to extend the game with additional upgrades and combat mechanics, so maybe some day this will be an idea worth re-exploring.
