Foster The Beeples by Deylinia

Playable In Browser
TO BUY FOOD/MEDICINE/UPGRADES USE THE SHOPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE MENU.
Foster The Beeples is a Tamagotchi-like Idle game in which you foster a little guys called "Beeples" who are essential to the planets health. Unfortunately, these guys require a lot of attention to be left alive, so fostering them is a big business. You get paid for your efforts and can spend money on upgrades for your Beeple to keep him alive for as long as possible.
You can buy upgrades for your bleeples room using the "Up Arrow" Menu on the top right.
The Beeples are Alfonzo, Brian, and Gus, who each have their quirks.
Enjoy this game in the background of playing other games to see how long you can keep your Beeple alive.
This is our second Ludum Dare game together, this time made by 2 artists and 1 programmer. We hope you enjoy the game.

(Check out our game too!)
Would you mind detailing some of the UI weirdness you experienced?
Great game, honestly love everything about it, it's the longest I've spent playing one of the jam games so far!
As i'm playing now, in non-fullscreen version the UI chopping stops, but yeah, it's annoying to play the game windowed.
(I'm upping the rating because I saw that non-fullscreen version works well)
A couple bugs:
- I was able to buy medicine for $2 rather than the listed $5
- I had a visual glitch where the exercise equipment flickered on and off every second or so
I like the inclusion of room upgrades (and that there's unique art for each of them!), but it'd be nice to have some way of accelerating your income, because it took a while to get the higher upgrades on my second try (he died just before getting the last $150 upgrade). It'd also be cool if there some more interaction with the environment (visual or not), since you didn't need much input while waiting for those last upgrades. I think one of those two would make the last part a little more engaging
That said, the music is really relaxing the and sounds the beeple makes is very cute! The stats you've chosen are intuitive, and I was sad each time he died 😔. This has a really nice mood, great job!
Oh... my Beeple died...
Good job !
The main point of friction that I had was figuring out the controls - I didn't discover the shop/upgrades menu for awhile, and the distinction between the shop and upgrades felt strange to me, because you're making purchases in both places.
I also ran into a few visual bugs, where my beeple's displayed state didn't match what they were doing, like this time when my beeple was apparently sleepwalking

One art recommendation that I have is to use a consistent pixel size for your sprites, because it can help to make things feel a lot more cohesively tied together
Overall, this was incredibly cute and relaxing, and a really nice way to wind down after playing a bunch of LD games this afternoon! :) Great job, especially for a second LD game!
Edit: also, by the way, the medicine requires you to have 5 money to buy, but it only takes away 2 money.
This game has such an intense aura and vibe to it, I thoroughly enjoyed raising my little guy named Brian and make him going to work in this economy.
I really like the cute characters. Keeping your room for each new Beeple is a nice touch of progression.
My biggest suggestion would be to try and make the visuals a little more consistent. There's a variety of pixel sizes and even different fonts. I ran into a bug where adopting more people through the camera's position out of whack. I'm sure we can chalk it up to jam time constraints.
Unsolicited Idea: Randomly generated Beeples!
Good job overall!!!
Overall though, great job!
