Foster The Beeples is a Tamagotchi-like Idle game in which you foster a little guys called "Beeples" who are essential to the planets health. Unfortunately, these guys require a lot of attention to be left alive, so fostering them is a big business. You get paid for your efforts and can spend money on upgrades for your Beeple to keep him alive for as long as possible.

You can buy upgrades for your bleeples room using the "Up Arrow" Menu on the top right.

The Beeples are Alfonzo, Brian, and Gus, who each have their quirks.

Enjoy this game in the background of playing other games to see how long you can keep your Beeple alive.

This is our second Ludum Dare game together, this time made by 2 artists and 1 programmer. We hope you enjoy the game.

Awesome game and took me back to playing with my Digimon Tamagachi. I think just more easy to understand UI would benefit a lot to this game!!

Very cute and relaxing little game! Nicely done, although it made me sad that no matter what I did, I lost poor Alfonzo :(

Would you mind detailing some of the UI weirdness you experienced?

RIP Alfonso, sorry you never made it to your third Schmeckledorf birthday, buddy.

Great game, honestly love everything about it, it's the longest I've spent playing one of the jam games so far!

Cool game -- I liked the spin on Nintendogs with the beeples, and I think it ties into the theme pretty well. My beeple suddenly died even though his health was above 0 :( RIP Gus.

@deylinia So yeah, on fullscreen mode the game had the top and bottom chopped a bit and I could not see the mood when it's not healthy or content(it moved downwards??? Hard to tell), also I don't know where to check my money I have right now, I only see the money I earned so far. Now i see it was chopped with the UI on fullscreen, so I ended up spamming buying buttons for everything praying i bought the medicine
As i'm playing now, in non-fullscreen version the UI chopping stops, but yeah, it's annoying to play the game windowed.

(I'm upping the rating because I saw that non-fullscreen version works well)

I played with Alfonzo 💔. I didn't realize that you could spend medicine without it doing anything, so on my first try I ran out and he died pretty quickly

A couple bugs:
- I was able to buy medicine for $2 rather than the listed $5
- I had a visual glitch where the exercise equipment flickered on and off every second or so

I like the inclusion of room upgrades (and that there's unique art for each of them!), but it'd be nice to have some way of accelerating your income, because it took a while to get the higher upgrades on my second try (he died just before getting the last $150 upgrade). It'd also be cool if there some more interaction with the environment (visual or not), since you didn't need much input while waiting for those last upgrades. I think one of those two would make the last part a little more engaging

That said, the music is really relaxing the and sounds the beeple makes is very cute! The stats you've chosen are intuitive, and I was sad each time he died 😔. This has a really nice mood, great job!

That music! Fantastic! And who doesn't like long walks on the beach and pina coladas? Exactly - no one ever. So, I picked Brian of course. I basically never play this type of games but I really enjoyed this. Well done!

I played this one for quite a while. It was super relaxing. It was a real bummer when my beeple suddenly died; its replacement had a much cozier life from the get-go. There seemed to be some graphical issues: the room upgrades were on top of the computer, and my second beeple was invisible. Really fun game.

I enjoyed the Tamagotchi-like and the characters differences, so you can play it different each time :D

Was pretty fun, feel like it ended a little too quickly for the pace of the game. didn't really make any money and couldn't get any upgrades - great job on submitting!

Fun game. Taking care of the Beeples is good, and the money is fairly balanced. Although when my Beeple died and I selected another one, for some reason the second one was invisible. Except for that strange bug, it was a good game!

The audio is perfect for this game - The music is relaxing to listen to for extended periods of time, the little sounds that the beeples make are too cute, and it breaks my heart to hear them sneeze/cough when they get sick! Absolutely great job on that! The beeples themselves were also really cute - I still have the game running while I'm typing this up because I feel bad abandoning Gus! :(

The main point of friction that I had was figuring out the controls - I didn't discover the shop/upgrades menu for awhile, and the distinction between the shop and upgrades felt strange to me, because you're making purchases in both places.

I also ran into a few visual bugs, where my beeple's displayed state didn't match what they were doing, like this time when my beeple was apparently sleepwalking

One art recommendation that I have is to use a consistent pixel size for your sprites, because it can help to make things feel a lot more cohesively tied together

Overall, this was incredibly cute and relaxing, and a really nice way to wind down after playing a bunch of LD games this afternoon! :) Great job, especially for a second LD game!

ALFONZO NOOOOOOOO! He died 5.7 schmekledorfs young. Ahh, I love this game. The artwork is adorable, and the little things I can buy for my beeple make it a marvelous experience. All around a good time. Great work.

Edit: also, by the way, the medicine requires you to have 5 money to buy, but it only takes away 2 money.

Easily one of the games I've ever played.
This game has such an intense aura and vibe to it, I thoroughly enjoyed raising my little guy named Brian and make him going to work in this economy.

Alfonzo best bleeple! Good game overall, but found some bugs: 1- after poor Alfonzo's death, the "back to menu" button didn't work, and 2- when I adopted another bleeple, they sent me an invisible one. I could still hear the little sounds and see the camera move and interact with it, but i couldn't see the bleeple graphics

I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen something like this before in LD! It worked really well to have it on on one monitor while trying out other games on a different one, thanks for the suggestion.

Very cute! I'm a terrible caretaker lol

I really like the cute characters. Keeping your room for each new Beeple is a nice touch of progression.

My biggest suggestion would be to try and make the visuals a little more consistent. There's a variety of pixel sizes and even different fonts. I ran into a bug where adopting more people through the camera's position out of whack. I'm sure we can chalk it up to jam time constraints.

Unsolicited Idea: Randomly generated Beeples!

Good job overall!!!

Very nice game. Graphics work well with the genre, music is super smooth, and the gameplay is simple but addictive. Unless I misunderstood the mechanics, there is no penalty for spamming "play" and it was difficult to see the incentive for spending anything on room upgrades since, with the room meter full or empty, the pet seemed to live just as easily.

Overall though, great job!

I'm a little confused by this game. In fact, it seems to me as strange as possible because people have to pay money to take care of a virtual character. That is, you need to buy everything for this virtual character. Many people do this while millions of orphans in the world need financial support and care. Instead of giving money to care for real children, people pay for virtual ones. It's just mind-boggling. Friends, better help the orphans; there is more information on the site https://fosterplus.org. Be realistic and don't waste money on stupid things.
