The Snooze by krystofjo

[raw]
made by krystofjo for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

Delay the inevitable getting up in the morning. Turn off all alarm clocks and try to sleep as long as you can.

!!UPDATE!! We managed to get the web version working. Try it! We also added two minor features we couldn't implement before as they were crashing the game. :)))

Share your time score in the comments bellow!

controls - W/S - eyes opening/closing, SPACE BAR - smash, ARROWS - movement,

Have fun!

The itch.io link doesn't work (yet?), maybe some typo in the URL or not published yet?

Cute game! We had a similar concept, with resisting waking up (alarms are BAD!), but it's a platformer.

Only problem with your game is that we were not able to go full screen, and there was one alarm (the phone) that we couldn't see, so we could not smash it.

Unfortunate you couldn't figure out the web version. Definitely worth the download though.

This one is fantastic! I literally said "Oh damn" when I saw the starting cutscene, plus I had a blast trying to find all the alarms with my eyes closed lol

My own alarm (electric table telling me to stand up) started to beep on top of the game's four other alarms haha. Great graphics, loved the falling asleep animation. Nice idea and nice finished game. It's quite hard - realistic :clock:

This is why I never use the alarm clock and don't sleep with the phone around. Cool pixel art and the idea is involving. Still, reminded me those times when you actually had to run to the office for no reason at all. Thanks for the goosebumps of remembrance, man!

Great idea perfectly going with the theme. And very nice & clean execution. Only thing is that intro could be skippable or skipped automatically after game restart...

Really fun idea, took a few tries to get the hang of the controls, but after that it was really fun to play.

Art looks great too, really like the style!

Great work!

Nice game, overall. It was surprisingly challenging all things considered, though I feel like part of that was simply because I was struggling with the controls. I feel like this game with the hand attached to the mouse cursor and with left click to smash instead of the arrow keys and space would've been a lot easier to handle. I feel like part of the point is the difficulty of the controls, though. The graphics are nicely done, and the audio is all good-the music especially is well done. This was a very nice, quick to pick up and play entry. Good job!

I managed to play it on Steam Deck via Proton, though on the 1280x800 display, the bottom portion of the frame was cut off. I suspect this has to do with 2D world scaling settings in the Godot project.

I like the idea, and the novel approach to controls. I'm very much a snooze person, though I'm also a night owl and would never set my alarms to 05:00 :joy: The snoring sounds at the start were a little obnoxious ;)

Lovely visuals!

Really great concept--way too relatable.

Managing to slap an alarm off without opening your eyes was just as good a feeling in the game as it is in real life.

Lovely little touches on the water glass, books on the shelf (I think? I was concentrating too hard on staying asleep :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) and the dog.

Simple gameplay made really appealing with a solid concept, great art and lovely, unobtrusive music.

Great work!

Now that's innovation! Well done! The art style is great and the sounds along with the music theme.
A simple game that become addictive. Honestly I don't know what to add since it feels very complete within the spirit of the old QWOP game.

What a true story! When you get sense of the game, you can exploit it when you keep your eyes shut but smashes everything!
