Reaplechase by emk4
Beware of the reaper, for it is chasing the souls of the innocent. Born with the mark of decay, without the hope to bloom, a child has entered this world. A guardian angel will protect him, giving but a part of immortality in exchange for a mortal lifetime of blissful ignorance.
Guide the guardian and build obstructions to block the reapers path.
Use the hand power to collect metal and wood from highlighted objects and use those resources to build obstructions.

Controls
[W][A][S][D]/Arrow-Keys for movement
[1],[2],[3] select ability
[Q]/[E] or [mouse-wheel] to select next ability
[Space] to work ability
Hint: you can hold space to continuously place items
Items
Wood can be obtained from trees and other wooden objects and is needed for wooden barricades to block the path of the reaper.
Metal can be found in Trashcans and -containers. Metal barriers are more sturdy obstacles to the reaper.
You can collect Karma at particle clouds and use it to move heavy objects like vehicles.
While the reaper can't be halted by your obstructions, you can at least slow them. They will tear down your obstacles, but placing strategic barriers will delay the inevitable.

I never got much metal to really bother to use metal barriers, the times I accidentally clicked on it instead of wooden barriers used it up enough. But the idea here is really cool and you actually managed to pull it off and use the theme really well!
I couldn't tell if I was right near the 'end' or if the world just stopped spawning, but there was this white wall not far off screen once the game ended. I was surprised by how easy it was until I saw the dude at the end and noticed that he had slowed down, which is lucky cause I was just starting to think of leaving. I'm assume they got slower and slower as the game went on, but you must have balanced that really well for it the game to end right when I was wandering if this game has an end!
This was pretty really fun 💖
Sometimes I feel like the characters are going through stuff, maybe it's just the perspective but I actually don't know because it feels like you could softlock the Death if you do it right.

Really good work. Very polished!
Congrats!
PS: Would I love to have an autoloot on the items to not destroy my touch space on the keyboard and switch so much on abilities :P
I managed to protect my protege for 92 years! (had some lucky rng with only two free tiles at one point and kept spamming wood  )
They got pretty slow at that age so I guess the difficulty over score grows exponentially which is interesting and makes it fit the theme even better.
It took me a while to understand how to gather materials and place stuff.
The keyboard controls are nicely layed out though, so the playing itself went very smoothly once I knew what I was doing.
It's a nice game!
But I felt like there was a pacing issue. I glanced over the description to get an idea of what to do, but from the start, the game puts you on the spot, so I spent my time frantically mashing the buttons before accidentally placing a few and picking up others. In short, I think the game would benefit from a gentler ramping up of object density.
Had fun playing it, the tension was very well-balanced.

Eh, not above the average lifespan of 72.63 but almost! :)
