Light at the Museum by LunacyEcho
When the Curator asked Clara to retrieve the Unholy Grail from the museum's Underground Archives, she didn't think there would be any issue. But, as she ventured deeper and deeper, she began to find that the shadows in the basement may have been more dangerous than she thought...

Hiya! We're Team Juicebox and we're back with yet another game for this holiest of LD anniversaries. The biggest thing that we did differently for this jam was that we tried to coordinate an actual in-person LD! All of our past games were coordinated (mostly) over Discord, so we were hoping an in-person jam would push our collaboration through the roof.
In the end, this didn't entirely happen as expected given that one of us came down sick, two of us were recruited last minute and were unable to make it to the Home Base, and another two of us were missing for at least a day due to various other last-minute emergency occurrences. Luckily, we had a big enough team that we were still able to create a game! This game is a bit moodier and LOT more puzzle-y than the games we're used to working on, so while this was some new territory, we hope you still enjoy our game. And hey, feel free to leave a comment to tell us what you think!

Help?!
We encourage players to try to figure out solutions on their own to the puzzles! We promise they're all doable and it's much more satisfying. But, for those who are bad at delayed gratification, we put together some quick walkthroughs. Here's a video walkthrough that goes through the whole game and here's a text-based walkthrough if that's more your style.

Updates after the deadline: - Players were getting stuck on a couple levels due to lighting issues, so we fixed those - Our sound effects were looping so we turned that off - Converted a shader to be web friendly so we could have an HTML5 option - You could get pushed out of bounds if a door closed on you. Fixed.

I wasn't quite clear on how the game mechanics were supposed to work. I couldn't figure how exactly what opened doors when there were no switches, or what dropping lanterns actually helps me with. Got stuck on the 3rd floor and gave up after trying many things to proceed.
Maybe a small explanation on this page or in game will help player get a bit further?
Fun little puzzle game with some nice mechanics.
I seem to have escaped the world at the second "double doors" light puzzle though, by moving left after the door closed. Can't seem to get back in.
@silas-reinagel The switches that you don't press are activated by light and the shadow chasing you. Lanterns both protect you from the advancing shadow, and cast light to light switches.
There is a lot of content which is really impressive for a game jam! The graphics were really well done - I especially loved how the light rendered and was harshly cut by objects in the way. I had a bit of trouble understanding how best to deal with the shadows but was able to progress pretty far regardless. I loved the dialogue, I think it was really well written. Overall, I really liked it! It was a great mix of challenging and rewarding. Great job!
I've got stuck here and there. I will come back later someday and try to finish it!
