Dial M for Monster by AAGH Games

[raw]
made by AAGH Games for LD33 (JAM)
You are... an M. And also a monster. M = monster. You get the idea.

You need to kill four trios of survivors as they huddle around their campfires for warmth by sneaking up on them and slashing them down - but beware of their arrows and knives!

The survivors have desires for light and "yums" so they will seek those out - use that to get them alone and murder them. When night falls, visibility goes down.

Arrow keys = movement
Space bar = slash at nearby survivors
Hold Left Shift key = Stealth Mode

Good luck, Monsters!

Interesting use of the words as sprites, definite points for originality there. The audio was a little repetitive, but overall a good experience. Well done!

It's already been said but the words as graphics is super cool. Other than that I really liked the stealth mechanics. Good job!

I like the typography. It'd be cool if you had more audio cues when the survivors were alerted.

Really difficult. Cool text graphical system. Did not understand the use for sticks and/or food, since it did nothing to me, and the survivors kept firing even when they're off screen. They never really went towards food, only in a corner looking around for when you appear, and health never seemed to regenerate.
The text decorations on screen don't really seem very appealing, but it's fun to watch what it is,since not all are easily made out because of the text.
Music isn't bad, and gameplay is fun.
Nice game overall, cool entry.

Risky art style, but surprisingly well executed. Mechanics seem a bit finicky; it's easy to get stuck on walls (which survivors do a lot, too) and hard to tell what is and isn't collidable. Definitely an enjoyable experience overall.

Good fit for the theme, the art is quite interesting, and the game is fun. Getting stuck on environment is kind of annoying, and it's not a 100% clear when the survivors can see you. The stealth system is quite neat though.

Awesome use of typography! In general, good graphics and sound. Simple, but quite captivating game mechanic. Though, I think if the day/night cycle was a bit faster, you wouldn't have to wait around quite as long during the day.

Nice typography, although some was hard to read. Felt like there were a lot of ideas here that weren't working so well together; as I was able to kill the Survivors by just using stealth and attack (and not understanding the day night cycle) I thought the experience could be more streamlined.

The controls don't respond over here and have no audio over here... Good graphics. :]

PS: We have fixed our game, if you want to see it again. ^^
Thank you.
