Die higher. by Spitzy

ezgif.com-gif-maker (5).gif 🚀 Your ship is broken, an asteroid is chasing you. How high can you go?

🎮 * A / D * to move 🎮 * S * to land faster

⚡ Keep in mind:

  • WebGL build is missing some assets/cinematics in order to work. I recommend downloading the game for a full experience;

  • Game has been tested and developed for 1920x1080 resolution, scaling on other resolutions may not be accurate

❗ Tip: Use the "land mechanic" (S) more often to be faster and escape the asteroid Using it will also make the game feel less slow-paced ezgif-1-57eca5d158.gif

Although the game's mechanics aren't the most original, the music, and art direction did keep me captivated.

gameplay-wise it isn't new but it works absolutely fine, the art is really intriguing but in a nice way! nice entry

Cool mechanic! Looks like the platforms are procedurally generated too, well done. You've done well to create a specific mood with the art style and music as well.

I feel like the game is missing challenge however, I think you could improve this game a lot by introducing some more obstacles to avoid - or spawn less platforms as you climb higher and higher. You want to keep the player "in the zone" by introducing challenge not too easy, but not frustratingly difficult either, a hard balance to find. You can find it by prototyping and getting your friends / family / us to play and give you feedback :)

Great concept!

nothing "new" and "exiting" per-se, but solid entry nonetheless. Collision detection somethings felt a bit wonky on web.

Managed to get to 85m on web.

Thank you all for the feedback!

@junklab I will definitely consider this if I continue working on the game, adding more obstacles is a great idea!

@xparker Thank you for the feedback and good job on the score! Personally didn't have issues with collision detection on the Web build, not sure where this could be coming from.
Not sure if you used the "Land" mechanic more, but using it would let you be quicker and reach higher points - didn't mention that anywhere in the game though, so my bad for that

Nice and simple! I like it. It would be nice, if with time the game become harder and harder, so for example, less platform with time, but higher jumps. And here is my score:

I reached 387m! Nice spin on the doodle-jump genre! I liked the music and the art

Congratulations on finishing! Brings me back to the days of doodle jump. The mechanics are executed well and I had fun!

Simple but fun game. I like how you can speed things up with the fast fall mechanic. Does feel like it needs something more to stop it from getting repetitive, perhaps the game could speed up as you get higher or something. But an overall solid submission. Nice work!

Neat aesthetic :) I like the vibe of the spinning (planet? void?) and the astronaut. Just when I thought the difficulty was somewhat static the sphere thing caught up with me. I think a little quicker difficulty scaling would be good - felt like I was cruising til around the 500m mark then was suddenly in trouble. Good work!

Got 184m! One thing that I found is that the character sometimes jumps way too low to reach any other platforms if you use the land function.

Nicely done jumping game. Love the jumping sound effect, very bouncing. Maybe add more variations of platforms(cracking platform? )in the future.

I managed to make it to 456m. Just as I was thinking I wanted some kind of escalation to make it more interesting I noticed the asteroid approaching from below, so I started using the S key to drop down faster to the platforms, and I held it too long after landing, sending me straight down to the asteroid.

An effective use of the theme, the controls feel nice, and the art is simple but cute. The music has a bit of a harsh low/lowmid boom frequency going on, some targeted equalizing would help that.

All in all it kept me entertained, nice one!

I got some icytower vibes. would have like some velocity based jumpe mechanics. Nice work.

451M for me congrats on the 20 ratings, decent game, the fall faster move seemed to make me die quicker so I didnt use it much.
