Spring has sprung! And that would be great and all, if you weren't made of snow. Now this big jerk of a sun is rubbing it in your face! Even if you can't escape the heat, you don't have to go out like this. Do your best, don't melt!

Don't Melt is a platforming game where you must avoid the sun as it stalks and chases you through the craggy mountains. Jump, dash, and wall jump to avoid the Sun's charges!

Controller recommended!

Controls (Xbox Controller):

Move left/right- Analogue stic Jump- A Dash- Direction + X / B / Y / Triggers (basically most of the other buttons on the controller dash)

Controls (Keyboard):

Move left/right: A / D / Arrow keys Jump: Space Dash: Direction (WASD/Arrow keys) + Left Shift / X

Gameplay notes:

Touching walls refreshes your jumps and dash! Dash moves in the direction you are pressing (you can dash up or down too!) (Controller users: you may have to click Play to start the game if the button isn't yellow)

Nice work, this is a solid entry.

Likes:
* Solid physics
* Generous dashes, double-jumps and walljumps
* Reasonable scope with nice little ending
* Cute little snowman
* Didn't run into any bugs

Feedback
* The sun wasn't super satisfying as an enemy, as it mostly just felt like he slowed me down
* Fairly easy to avoid the attack, could have different attack patterns?

I wasn't expecting to like a platformer, but it was really fun!

This was a fun play. I like how generous the controls are. The music had a good bop, I like the toms a lot. The sun art was funny too, it was so devious and out to getcha. When I got to the end I thought there was going to be a dark twist :smiling_imp: Nice work on this!

Awesome game, the wall jump mechanic feels super satisfying, the movement overall feels really nice! The whole sequence feels like a boss battle in a cool platformer, it has a lot of potential! The bass line on that track had me nodding my head, super funky! Fun little experience.

Side note, I'm not sure Mr snowman would have a campfire in his little igloo LOL!

This is a really good executed entry. The graphics are nice (love the sprite of the sun) and the music is pretty cool. I also love the fact that it has checkpoints!

I will probably think about snowmans chilling at a campfire for the rest of the day

This was fun! At first I perhaps struggled a bit with the jump and dash controls but got the hang of those soon, especially using wall jumps to my benefit. The sun makes for quite an original enemy, as it hangs around rather close but gives way rather nicely, so there's this feeling of threat always present but it's not too much. The soundtrack also adds to that, although it gets repetitive quite fast.

The simple graphics work, and there were absolutely no issues with the controls or anything else. Solid work.

Very nice, precise controls. The art style is also nice.

Really nice controls I loved that you could see in the environment that it was slowly changing towards spring. The sun chasing me around reminded me of the sun level in Mario 3 which is never a bad thing it was a really fun time great job.

The music was also nice and groovy.

Nice game, was wondering if it would ever end but made it to the ice-cave!
The grin and glasses on the sun made me want to punch it more than I care to admit...

The sun didn't really pose a challenge, but was good to have an annoyance factor.
Some more challenging platforming would have been a great inclusion as the controls seemed nice and tight.
Great effort and good luck!

I really like the idea! But I find the game goal is not very clear, nor did I find some indicator UI in the game like how many lives had the snowman lost. The sun is not dangerous enough because of its moving behavior: it even try to avoid snowman when approaching! The control is satisfying, but if the logic behind the game mechanics is more clear and intuitive would be better, such as why a snowman has clinging to wall or wall jump behavior. Overall a good game and I like it!

I liked this game. I was afraid that the map was a labirith but with patience it is easy to reach the end. Great job!

Controls are really cool, good response, the whole game remind me of this super mario bros 2 moment when you took the key in the jar. Good job.

Nice game. I didn't like the keyboard layout but controls were nice and responsive. Liked the music too.

Good stuff. Reminded me of meat boy with the evil sun from Super Mario Bros 3. The sun wearing sunglasses like on the box of Raisin Bran was a nice touch!

I like the jumping and dashing. The keyboard is a little bit hard to play with. Maybe change the jumping from space to w would be easier to control. Overall nicely done.

Fun game! I feel like this idea could work well as an infinite runner-type game with increasing difficulty and a score based on how long the player survives or how far they get. Either that or a more dynamic difficulty system.
