BRAIN BURGERS

Your service job in fast food could really come in handy in a zombie apocalypse! In Brain Burgers, you serve the eponymous tasty treats to ravenous zombies to delay the inevitable... which in this case is becoming zombie food yourself. Ironic, isn't it?

Controls

Menus: - Click on button(s) Or - WA or arrow keys: Choose a button - E or Enter: Press the button

Game: - WASD: Move - Interact: E - Attack: Space or LMB

How to Play

  1. Get a raw brain from the freezer
  2. Put the brain in the frier
  3. Put the cooked brain on to the assembly counter near the frier
  4. Take a bun from the big pile
  5. Put the bun in the toaster next to the pile
  6. Put the toasted bun on the assembly counter
  7. Once there is a toasted bun and a cooked brain on the counter, wrap a burger
  8. Take the wrapped burger to the counter. The nearest zombie will come and take it
    • You can also take the burger to the warmer behind the counter to store it
    • Approach the warmer from behind to put a wrapped burger in it
    • Approach the warmer from the front to take a wrapped burger out

The burger ingredients and wrapped burgers take up inventory slot 1. You can only have one item in that slot at any given time. Picking up another item drops the previous item on the ground.
The wrench takes up slot 2 and stays there for the entire game.

The frier and the toaster have a limited number of uses before they break.
If you interact with them while the required item is not equipped, you can repair them at any time.
You can also use the wrench to kill zombies.

Interesting game. Might want to simplify the mechanics a bit to make it easier for the player to remember.

It was tricky but I had a good laugh playing this one. Well done.

Really struggled with the lack of a tutorial on this one; A lot of controls and a lot of steps, sadly not as intuitive as I hoped. Even so, it was a fun experience. The theme, sound and art got a good chuckle out of me.

not intuitive controls, but the music and the graphic mixes well.

Thanks for the feedback! We made a postjam update for the game which addresses some of the problems:
- No more inventory slots. You can have just one item equipped.
- Wrench doesn't need to be picked up, you already have it at the start of the game. Attacking happens from different buttons than interacting with the machines.
- Zombies won't be spawning as frequently as before.
- Fixing machines needs you to only not have a brain or bun equipped. If you have brain or bun equipped when there are no uses left in the machine, the option is always to fix the machine.

Hard to understand at first sight but enjoyable after few games. Well done!

I really like the art, this game has a super funny/quirky attitude <3 I agree that the whole burger making process was a bit much for me to remember, but overall I like the idea of switching between those tasks and fighting off zombies. Only bug I found is that during one playthrough I seemed to get stuck fixing the toaster forever?

I really like your idea, but for me it was too tricky to play. Some tutorial or guide while playing would be great.

I had assumed this would be very straight forward when I began playing and had a bad time. After reading the instructions the game is pretty fun! The whole process has a surprising number of steps but once you get into the swing of things the balance of preparing, fixing, and attacking is entertaining.

Had a bug early on where my character started fixing a machine, got caught in a fix loop, and just continued fixing the machine until I reset

The concept for this game seems soooooooooooo good!!!!

But, as mentioned above, I kept getting stuck in loops, early early on.
So I haven't been able to figure out what the gameplay feels like.

Either way, the humour seems great, the music was enjoyable (sound effects too!) and the level design was charming.

I regret that it was unplayable for me, but it looks like you all made a great game. :D

Awesome concept for a game. Nice art style too. The balance of the game feels off. Also, there is so much potential! Great job with the game.

Holy shit, I was able to kill those zombies by myself since the beginning ? I found it only in my last run.

Good entry but it needs a tutorial. Good music and graphics.

Wasn't able to figure out how to combine the cooked brain with the toasted bun. Also had the infinite machine fixing bug.
