Suppress The Press by Frostbiiten
My first game jam :D
There are some things I would have liked to change but I am satisfied with the final product. I decided to make a simple game where you delay being crushed by a press. (yes the game has nothing to do with politics, despite the title)
Controls
- WASD/Arrow keys to move around
- W/Up Arrow to jump, and S/Down arrow to go underground
- Space Bar to dash if you have energy XBOX controls implemented, but not tested
How To Play
- Dig underground to collect energy in the form of squares
- Use your energy to dash while over land and delay the press
- If the press touches the ground or crushes you, it's game over!
### Changelog - 4/4/2022 - Fixed bug where music didn't play - Fixed typo in tutorial/title - 4/7/2022 - Fixed bug where player could stay still and abuse energy spawning mechanics - Fixed bug where music (still) wouldn't play and other music layering bug
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules "Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players."

I thought I managed to find a strategy that can keep going but I think the press just come down faster overtime. I kind of wish that there were incentive to go deeper but I guess there isn't.... (I checked)

Congrats on the submission and thanks for the game :)
I didn't read the description ahead of time, so the sudden death caught me off guard and confused. It didn't make sense to me why the pressure at the surface is cause for death when I'm below.
I liked the clean aesthetics, and the wobblyness of the character!
Good art, good audio, good gameplay, good idea, smooth and juice!
It has everything! Good job!
Nice mechanics, it had a suprisingly interesting gameplay. You kind of forget how deep you are and then it's too late. Sounds/music was good as well. Nice and chill entry :)
