If you continued to add on to the game, I'd love to see different materials having different properties, maybe having a queue of which one will come next (like Tetris blocks), and a "high score" tracker so I can see how far I got.
Nice job! :)
Great pacing with the appearance of the cracks. You're barely hanging on most of the time, but the only way to lose is if you make a mistake (you can never blame a loss on the RNG). After 24 minutes, the music starts to get a bit old; for a game like this something less upfront may be better. Your game has a really clever core gameplay loop that never gets dull. Overall, I had a blast with this!

(I recorded my run; if you're interested in watching let me know and I'll upload it)
The one critique that comes to mind is that pressing E so often and so quickly whilst also using WASD is uncomfortable. Maybe make right click move the ladder like @callicou-jack suggested?
On the pros, the controls were responsive and I thought the graphics were pretty good.
