About Catocalypse

The witch Aerys was working on a potion and her cat fell into the vat. The cat's fur getting into the potion was the beginning of the inevitable...

Mutant cats begin to crawl out of the vat, seeking to explore the environment and thus destroying the Witch's house.

How long can Aerys delay the house's inevitable destruction?

In order to prevent damage, you need to:

  1. Stop cats for a while by enticing them with a toy or using some kind of counteraction

  2. Repair broken things, which will replenish the condition of the house a little

Target:

Last as long as possible!

This house will not save anything from the invasion of mutant cats ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Controls

WASD or left click - Move

Key "1" - Imprison in a flask ability

Key "2" - Bubble encapsulation ability

Key "3" - Water spray ability

Cute game with cute cats. The graphics were cute and the music was nice, felt the movement was little weird, had to use the mouse since the key bindings felt weird to move and use the abilities, would be nice to add some SFX as well. Overall nice game.

Visually this was delightful! the characters and world were full of colour and creativity.
I found it a bit confusing how tog et the abilities to actually work, I often found myself pressing them and nothing would happen. I was probably missing something, but the feedback there could be better.

@lenan Thank u! About SFX, we had meowing and the sound of repairing objects, but we forgot about them hah) Maybe a little later we will add them

Gameplay leaves a lot to be desired; controls are a bit too clunky. On the other hand; the art is absolutely gorgeous!

The graphics are c u t e! Really in love with the cats. Would be nice if you could control the player with wasd too (not just with mouse because you need it for the skills). And i do have the same problem as @lilith with the abilities. NICE entry! PS: Meow

Cute cats! the animations when they are distracted are adorable!

some audio feedback when interacting with the cats and furniture would help a lot, but overall it was pretty fun, also, cute cats

I _cannot_ get over bottling the water cat!

The process of targeting a cat and having to close in on it before activating the ability is a bit awkward overall but it's so cute!

Wow, your thumbnails are gorgeous! The little cats are so cute it makes me wish I had more, but the gameplay quickly reminds me of why that wouldn't necessarily be a good idea lol. A little bit more polish would make it even better. Straight-forward and very frantic. Nice job, guys!

Really nice art, loved the intro and the designs of embodiment of the three aspects of catness :D It seems to me that the controls could be a bit less demanding: just using an ability while close to a target without clicking it would be more fun imo, the rock-paper-scissory system of choosing the right ability is already an obstacle, and a good feeling one. But overall, the idea, the presentation, the theme connection — everything is very good!

Loved the art style, and especially the opening cutscene, really just set the mood for the rest of the game. Only bad thing I could say is that it felt like you'd just come into a room, then find it's all destroyed, that's really the point of the game though. Over all, a brilliant submission!

Great looking game. Especially the intro animation was really well made. The sounds gave the game a great vibe. it took a while before I understood you can only use some specific attacks on specific thinks or cats. Maybe the attack animation or a hand movement but nothing happens animation could be played to indicate the spell did not work. But overall just a nice funny game.

Herding cats amirite? Chaotic, but clearly by design!

The concept is very good, the story and the idea! I just miss a better execution of the game! Seriously, if this is done with a little more attention to the gameplay, graphics and music, the game would be very professional, seriously.

I love how you have a cutscene at the beginning, and a nice screen for the controls. It was a little difficult to use the powers I wanted and sometimes I was confused why things didn't work, but it was very cute and kept me playing, anyway.

Nice work on the art and cat noises :) I enjoyed the cinematic. Cute game!

I don't think I was able to repair anything. Is there a way to repair broken furniture, or can you only repair things before they break? I was mostly trying to figure out what spell works best for each cat. I think it would've been cool if each cat showed an emoticon after applying a spell to them.

I like the music, it really adds to the frantic pace of trying to stop these cats from destroying everything (Which, as a cat owner, I can confirm is inevitable, mutant or no). The art is really good too, I like the all the cute variants and the environment is done really well. Great work!

@rschoellgen Thank you for feedback ^^

About furniture, yeah, you can repair things before they break completely. Well, the destruction is inevitable

Super adorable and cute, loved the art and all the kitties.

The cats broke out of their little trap so fast though! It made gameplay a little repetitive

Good entry :)

The idea is cool and the art is super cute. It needs more feedback when you are interacting with the cats, now is really hard to know if I'm failing with the distraction or not interacting with the cat at all.

Overall good game, fun to play.

The gameplay was a little bit of a struggle to understand (I didn't know you actively how to lock onto the cats with the left click), but once I got it, I had fun. The concept is interesting, and the artstyle is cute. I especially like the intro cutscene. The graphics and audio come together nicely and give them a good, upbeat (and slightly intense) mood. The main thing I can thing about improving is better communication of how exactly the mechanics work.

Other than that, nice entry.

I love the cats! It was really challenging, great artstyle and gameplay. The music choice is a bit odd but it is ok.

Well, I can't pass up a cat game now, an I?!

"Mutant cats begin to crawl out of the vat, seeking to explore the environment and thus destroying the Witch’s house."

-> I'm sorry, this is a problem how? So this is a simulator of my real life?

All kidding aside - I LOVED THIS!!! The kitties were so so so cute, haha.
I think my favourite reaction was bubbleing the pokemon cat - right after bubbleing the skyrim cat (why skyrim cat? They kinda remind me of atronachs ^^)

Oh god this was so adoreably cute, it almost gave me a heart attack! Also, bonus points for the cutscene, soo soso cute omg!

Gameplay was fun, I really liked the use of this rock paper scissor element -
also while looking at the tutorial I thought - gosh, I hope the respective shortcuts and what they mean are always shown in the UI and they are - good job guys!

I was kind of too dumb to repair though - do I have to buttonsmash or hold? it didn't work most of the time for me :(

If you do a postjam version, I would balance the cooldown a little bit, and make it skill based, because if there are 3 water cats and I can only use the test tube once ever couple seconds thats a bummer - maybe a penality whenever I use an ability wrong? so like, cooldown according to what I chose?
Or after having clicked at a cat I need to choose the ability in a certain timeframe ot get rewards - or penalties when I take to long?

In any case, amazing game and content for a gamejam - good job, guys!

Lovely premise, it really caught my attention!

The style is also lovely and kudos for including the well done opening cinematic, was watching it with a smile on my face! c:

The game itself felt weird to control however. At first, the button prompts didn't seem to work at all. I found out later what I was doing wrong, but it was really unintuitive.

Despite of that, I still managed to have some good fun. Good job people! :)

Really nice and cute art, I especially like the design of the main character.

Presentation is very good, however I feel that the game could be more clear on how you're supposed to play it. Is the player supposed to memorize the stuff in the tutorial, or am I missing something? Because in that case I feel like it would make for a more intuitive experience to show that information via gameplay (maybe by cut and pasting the pictograms in the tutorial screen into the game, e.g. as posters on the wall so you can always see them).

Also the music is cool and well made, but doesn't really fit the mood and aesthetic of the game.

Overall though, a really well made and well put together game, and a fun but simple concept. I just wish it was a bit more intuitive to play.

Cute game!

My only note for improvement is that the game can go on forever because of how easy it is to repair and defend the final object. Maybe making it so the game is over when there's only one object left instead of zero left could fix this issue.
