Off with the show! by edwigelel

[raw]
made by edwigelel for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

The concert is starting in a few minutes, but you don't want to go! Time to find all the possible excuses to delay it!

Play by interacting with object, and combining them to earn time! Move the camera using the keyboard (a-d or arrows).

To combine objects, click on one object, then on the button "combine with", then another one. There are also combinations with 3 objects, so click on a first object, then "combine with", then on a second object, then "combine with", then on a third object! If you see new button appearing on the last object, then you find a new combination!

Almost everything in the game has been created from scratch for the jam (yes, even the song ;) ). We hope you'll like it :)

Changelog: fixed a bug prevening the combinaison to work properly (arg)

I think this is a really interesting premise. I did find it hard to understand what was having an effect on the time. I would be clicking around wildly and the look up at the time and see that I added 15 seconds without understanding why. I think having more clear feedback when you successfully add time and more combinations would make the game more engaging and less confusing.

Nice art! I couldn't seem to combine anything though, it was a little confusing. I liked the idea of the show starting as well! :)

I think it is interesting idea but sadly I couldn't understand how to play it...

The game remembered me a bit on the good old point and click adventures from the past. Really nice. I like the graphics :-). An example on how to combine things would be nice at the beginning. Took me a few seconds to undestand how the combine stuff works. :D Thumbs up guys.

Some clearer instructions would have helped a lot. Good take on the theme.

Nice Artwork!

I think I found all the non-combining delays, and I found one of the combining delays (not sure if there are any more), but I might have found more combining delays without realizing it.

In your description you say "created from scratch for the jam (yes, even the song ;)" I didn't hear a song when I played the WebGL version

Fun concept, but I couldn't play it, the timer was still and I wasn't able to make any combinations.

Lots of stuff to like here. The 3D assets were great, the music was banging, the singing was good. Only thing that needs work is some of the code regarding combining objects. As well as some clearer instructions. Other than that, great game!

There was no audio coming through for me at all {( Also not too sure what I was doing. I was just clicking on things and the time went up sometimes. Not quite sure why. The visuals were nice though!

First of all, wow, the music is awesome, I haven't expected that, great job!

About the game, I managed to drink the coffee and check the tuning on strings, but I for the love of god couldn't figure out how combining items work. I tried as many different combinations as I possibly could, but nothing has ever happened.

The game looks fine, although I wish the intro text was a bit more stylized. I also wished there was "Back to menu" button when the time runs out.

Not bad, good job!

Very nice art style and promise, I liked the originality of the game. I think I didn't play it right because I couldn't combine anything ? I wish I had clearer instructions so I could play correctly.
But otherwise cool game!!

Wow you created a song just for the game, thats great. Gameplay was a bit confusing I managed to combine some stuff but there was never any indication for what I was currently combining so I was just mindlessly clicking after a while, definitely could use work on more visual feedback to the player. Visually the font was a bit plain, and the 3D model wasnt too good but I liked the room. Fits the theme.

Thanks you all to testing our game! I just pushed a fix for the combination, so it should be way better now! We also know what the issue is on html5 with the sound, it's a known fmod bug we're trying to fix now (but no problem on windows).

What I don't get is the issue with everything being frozen. Please send me a message if you have time @yanakill-lullanita I would like to know what could have possibly gone wrong.

Thanks a lot for the ideas to improve the game too, we'll polish the game once the rating period is over :)

I too had issues with the combining as it didn't seem I was able to connect certain things, like the pedal to the guitar/amp. The art and music are great, and it's an interesting take on the theme in that wasting time backstage might be what a nervous performer would be compelled to do. The show must go on, as they say.

Nice idea, nice looking graphics and cool song you made!
However, the combination functionality was very unclear, and it was hard to tell when I succeeded or not, i think this really need some kind of feedback. I hope you add that for a post jam, then it could be a neat little mini game worth coming back to!

Nice work!

I liked the sound and graphics! Also good take on the theme.
I'm not exactly sure I understood if I combined things or not?

Oops I did not know how to combine stuff, I played for a good 10 minutes. Still a fun game, I think the idea is great! The graphics are well done and the music fits nice to the context of the game.

The singer did a great job at the end and was pretty cool. But unfortunately this game desperately lacked feedback with combinations. I still am unsure if I combined things and the timer was not very easy to see. The 3d models were nice. And the music was really cool.

Good job!

The graphics and premise of this game are solid. Like everyone else, I also struggled with the "combine with" option. At points, I'm pretty sure I got it to work, but then at other times I felt like I was clicking around wildly. The music and humor of the combinations (that I got to work) were pretty funny and made me want to play multiple times to uncover additional things.

Overall, great job!

I love the music and sound space, graphics are cool too and work well with the setting. I was a bit lost with how to combine objects and it took me a few attempt before I understood a bit more and managed to find some combination that worked. I feel there is some feedback missing, like maybe what objects you are currently trying to combine. It also seems that the order of selection was important, which is confusing. Anyway, I liked my time with the game, thank you for making it
