Operation Cookie Monster by Crazy046

[raw]
made by Crazy046 for LD33 (COMPO)
Third time taking the challenge, wanted to see what the Godot engine could do! i Must say that i'm very impressed by it and will probably keep using it pass the ludum dare, although lack of documentation was annoying.

A Sidescrolling platformer with 3 levels.

Controls:
Left: A / Left Arrow
Right: D / right arrow
Jump: w / Up arrow / Space - tap again to double jump
Shoot: left click
aim with the mouse

Could only test Windows builds.

Found this ludum dare hard to complete kept changing ideas whilst trying to learn the new engine, would have loved to polish and add more things. But Definitely going to practise godot in preparation for the next one!

Ok game, not really match for theme however. You could change monster to mario without any problems.
P.S. Looks like you spend all your time to compose music.

I like the use of the theme and the soundtrack for this one!
It's just a little hard since the controlls/physics seem to glitch whenever I have to be precise ...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!

I really wanted to beat this, but victory was always just out of reach. Crazy experience. The physics was just glitchy enough that it was charmingly infuriating. If there was a faster retry (1 button instead of 2) I would probably still be playing right now.

As idea works well, music is nice but sometime become buggy in walls

A bit too many collision issues for a platformer but I did feel the need to finish it, so you clearly hit that spot =)

The audio is really nice. The game play is just okay, I get that I am Cookie Monster, but there's not much more to it with the theme then that. It would have been cool to Hulk out after eating a bunch of cookies!

Only really frustrating thing was occasionally getting stuck on the ground. Other than that, very fun little game.

Quite a fun concept! Mechanics are nice. It has some collision problems though, as the reactions are a bit weird, sometimes I would get stuck while running. Graphics are fun, but animation timing was a bit odd. Audio is nice too. Level 2 is also quite brutal, while level 3 is not so hard. Some more levels and more balance would be nice (but there is hardly time to do that xp). I found the theme usage a bit weak too...
Anyway, it was still fun to play ^^! Good job!

+ GREAT music
+ ... and audio effects!
+ Animations are OK. I liked the monster!

- Graphic style is very grey, could use more color.
- Gameplay was not very original
- Platforming physics were floaty and buggy. Could use more polish.
- Also a Retry button was needed!
