Wonderlife by RoughSkin

[raw]
made by RoughSkin for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

thumbnail.png

Narrative videogame set in a dystopian FUTURE (and based on a dystopian PRESENT) where you are an employee of the Wonderstar corporation. You must try to balance your life so you don't end up dead, because the corporation, and therefore the world, play against you.

Get wallpapers by getting different endings, there are 6 possible, can you get them all?

The controls consist only of moving the notifications to the right or left, either with the mouse or with the arrow keys.

And remember, our game does not contain politics or ideology, it is based COMPLETELY around these two things. So if you don't like it, don't play.

Log fix: We had a problem with the bottom corner UI, appearing that we were in May, when in fact, we're on April. Fixed a keyboard problem that was happening in some keyboards.

I had a lot of fun playing and had a good laugh at some of the notifications. Wasnt sure if dystopian or just like basically reality now

I feel like this could be a 4.5 for me since it is sooo polished. My only complaint is that I want MORE of this game! Sometimes the saving events are triggered quite generously that it gets exploitable, but I guess that's just how Jam games are! Fantastic work.

Also 100% complete

Now that's what I call good UX!

The satire is pretty fun. It's cool to see a bit of political games in the jam, and I appreciate that this one remains quite light. I was able to unlock two ends, although my second run went for a bit long. I have the feeling that events can go on forever until a succession of bad luck determining the ending. Still, it creates interesting stories.

"Goodbye hope..." Both entertaining and unsettling for a good mix.

What an amazing twist in the "Reign"-like games. Really loved the universe, the graphics are minimalist but well designed, you've got a really decent humor and the game is well balanced. Very good work!

Loved that game, especially the political message of it. Nice and clean design, looks very polished. :)
(The only sad thing about this game is just how real it is...)

This is such a strange game and seems so simple at first!! Very unique, you get bonus point for that! I would hope you are randomly generating all this text! Well done :)

I don't usually like social satire games but... Yeah, basically...

Really well polished. A lot like Reigns, but, you know... depressingly true. :unamused:

Great job. Reluctant thumbs up.:thumbsup:

Good job with this one, really have nothing in terms of feedback. Maybe, some messages were a little too on the nose, but can't really say it's a bad thing. Well done!

Oof, that hits close to home! Great satire, very pointed. I think it was a good idea to focus on polish more than length, especially with different endings. You captured the aesthetic excellently!

Ah, that was depressing, yet well written and enjoyable. I love the easy to follow dual-choice responses, and the tiny details like the clock / calendar in the corner updating were really nice touches. The minimalist cooperate designs of the various health stats really fit the mood! Great work.
