Why Did I Wait by IndiePixel

[raw]
made by IndiePixel for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

A small game about ghosts who forgot to clean the graveyard before inspection. Death will come, and he's mad. How long can you stall him?

HSEUkn.png

controlls-the tutorial in the game was amd last minute as the projectfile had lost the original scene. a or space to interact/clean b or right click to use your amulet (when the amulet is full it will releas a blast that cleans everything withint a few meters. otherwise it adds 1 minute to the clock) Y or tab to check your list to see whats left to do

Webs should(somethings wrong with the build) slow you down. and theyt take 3 hits to clean. Polters take 3 hits as well to send hom but you gotta chase them down first tombs only need one hit and the dirty ones are purple stains only need to be touched to clean you dont need to press anything.

thank you for all th feed back! ill do my best to fix it all in apost jam version and i might add another level!(no promises though. schools realy tight right now with graduation)

hope youre doing well have apleasant existance and happy judging (please excuse any spelling mistakes. im dyslexic and this font is super hard to read.)

Really like your game especially the artwork. I did find the font was a little hard to read for things like (i) and (!) but other then those

Nice! I would advise that you write the controls in this page. I quickly read the controls in game, but it's not always clear before you actually start playing the game, so it would have been nice to have another way to see them again without having to exit and restart the game. It would also be nice to show the controls for the keyboard ;)

This game is really gorgeous! the visuals and music work so well together, I loved the mood that you create with this. There are also quite a few game mechanics that are really interesting.

I'm not sure I understood your usage of the theme. What was inevitable?

Very cool entry, nice job!

Cool Game! It was a bit hard to control, probably because I used a mouse and keyboard.

Awesome, I really liked the mood of your game, it's visually pleasant and the music and sound effects are great. The controls aren't easy to get but coherent with the speed you need to have to go through the map.

Like others said tho, it doesn't really fit the theme as you can win the game, Death being mad isn't inevitable. But an overrall good game! Well done!

@erwan thanmks for the feed back! i didnt realy convey this weel but the joke is supposed to be that death will arrive no matter what. i didnt have much to to be able to portray it well. the game is also best played with a controller (i was working on keybaord controlls but ran out of time) Im glad you enjoyed it though!

Really charming! I don't know about controller controls, but the keyboard controls were very sensitive. Other than that though, the graphics and music were great and worked really well with one another.

I don't know why cleaning up suddenly becomes fun when it's in a video game with a cute ghost, but there we go. :stuck_out_tongue:

Great work!

You indeed have reasonable control about how to satisfy your players with those juicy movement effects - screen shake, animation, and fantastic particles. I like to control the player in your game and explore this graveyard world (which feels like an underwater world to me). Tiny and perfectly scooped and polished. Love it!

Nice conecept well executed. The movement was quite satisfying. First I tried with keyboard and only found space as the equivalence for A and wasd for movement. Would be nice with explanation of keyboard controls. When I switched to controler I got the full experience. Love the visuals and the music. It could have been harder but I know balancing is hard. The dialoge box was acting kind of wierd for me.

Amazing art!
Maybe the movement was a little too fast for me at first but i got the hang of it. Great game!

Really good sense of atmosphere. I didn't get much of a sense of anything 'inevitable', but it was fun and felt really solid and polished for a jam game.

Only piece of advice I'd give is maybe some tradeoff to make for the 'hit' button. At the moment there doesn't seem to be any reason why you wouldn't just constantly spam A the entire game. Maybe when you hit the button your momentum gets zeroed out? Or maybe a cooldown?

@jessekaz thanks for the feed back! the webs where supposed to slow you down when you walked threough them as a sort of trade off for just infinitly spamming, but ill take your feedback into conisedration in the post jam version

A short but great game xD!! I really found it very funny and very beautiful. The pixel art here is great, from the character design to the palette, the particles, the animations and I found the blur used in part of the level to be a great resource. The only thing that would perhaps improve would be the speed that the character takes when he moves, since he is very fast and the gameplay does not feel very good, it is just a personal recommendation. Great work and art!!

Amazing art, music and the overall atmosphere. Honestly you should add a gif or screenshot to your LD game description so that people can see the art. The gameplay was smooth but proved to be too difficult for me. Very good entry!
