Lone Bastion by Cosmo8

[raw]
made by Cosmo8 for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

You are alone, trapped in the center of a star station.

From each wing, enemies slowly pour in, and their only goal is to kill the one person aboard; You.

Your only defense from these threats is a set of combat drones, with limited vision.

If a single enemy gets through, you're dead for certain.

There is no rescue, there is no escape. All you can do is delay the inevitable.

Really cool game. The vision concept was cool and both added to the difficulty of the level and gave the game a unique feel from games like asteroids. The three way defense with different ships was also cool. The theme translates to a arcade style game. Not the most innovative but does the trick. I also thought the theme was hard to create something innovative with.
Game tweeks that I believe would have made a bit better experience is faster turn time and changing bullet movement as I believed they moved in a wierd and unusual way. Though it is your game and I respect your design.

Great little game! I loved the low-vision concept. Managing three different ships is hard, but definitely makes you feel like you're delaying the inevitable :)

Lots of interesting and unique ideas here! I liked how switching between rooms changed up the weapon, I also really liked the visuals (specifically the film grain like lines effect). Not much to critique, well done!

Really enjoyed it! Can't believe what a great tutorial you put together in such a short time. The game itself was fun and challenging, and ramped up well. My hat is off to you!

I love the aesthetic and the mood with this! It really sets a consistent tone throughout, and the indicator down at the bottom left to show how close each branch is is absolutely excellent. I also love the distinctly unique feel of each branch - swapping between each was very noticeable and satisfying because of it! It also really captured the feel of the theme. Awesome work~! ◊

Very interesting concept and I like the graphics. The switch mechanic (red, blue, green) is also great. I'm not so sure about the limited range of sight - the range could have been slightly bigger. Overall gameplay is fun :-)

A great Game with some really interesting mechanics. Both the swapping between multiple lanes and the vision mechanics added to the tension. The graphics were well designed and the audio wasnt bad either.

I really liked the work here, there are very good ideas implemented and simple but functional art style. The music and sounds seemed to me the best, and it was very interesting to go from one branch to another of technology and ship. nice job!!

Great execution of a tricky concept. I had a hard time getting an intuitive feel for a good tactic but I enjoyed the way the different ships felt. Great job!

Visuals and setting are very close to Duskers. A game that I really like.
Gameplay is completely different though.

Fun way to tickle the multi-tasking part of your brain.

Controls could be tighter and gun feedback is not immensely satisfying but it's a game jam after all.

If explored further I think a less arcady and more level based direction would be great.
Exploring a space station and switiching between your drones, having to set up traps by flushing enemies out with one drone and shooting them with the other when they run in that drones' direction.

Good job regardless.

Super fun. A little tightening of the mechanics and this could easily become something that you'd sit on play for hours

Nice game. The art style is pretty unique, music and sounds are good and create a nice mood. The game is a little bit too hard because of the limited visibility. A bit chunk of the map was offscreen for me so it was hard to see when the danger was coming from the left tunnel.
