Delay Bedtime by Matt E

made by Matt E for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

You are a toddler and bedtime is at 8pm! You can distract the adults by unleashing mayhem.

This was created for Ludum Dare 50. The theme was Delay the inevitable.

On normal difficult 9:00 pm is a great time! My best time is 10:07. Best time in the comments 10:22!

Tips: - The adults see in a straight line which is blocked by walls. Don't make a mess when they can see you. - You can't rewind the clock past a certain time, otherwise the adults will figure out what your doing. - The Adults will send you to bed when the clock reaches 8pm or the sus-o-meter is full. - You can create a partial mess and finish it off later when you need to.

Thank you all you lovely people for playing my game 😀. The feedback is all appreciated especially criticism and what scores you got!

Please do not watch this. It's more fun to figure things out for yourself 🙂. However if the game doesn't make sense this play through might help.

Made me laugh out loud. A very silly premise, and I liked having to both cause mayhem to distract and having to turn back the clock. I found myself getting caught quite quickly - maybe having the adults have a line of sight cone like in some "classic stealth games" would have made it a bit easier! Maybe I just need to get better, but could have been nice to have a few rounds of attempting to turn back the clock.

Thanks for the feedback 🙂. I was trying to implement a light cone but sadly I ran out of time.

Took a while to figure out the sus-o-meter but once I did had a total blast - awesome job!

You know you're in trouble when the neighbour comes in to help wrangle you to bed! Fun twist on the stealth game genre.

Very nice game! Fits the theme perfectly, in such a unique way!
Kind of hard to understand the logics of the game but really fun!

Great game!

Right on theme! It took me a second to work out who the adults were, so an in game tutorial would have been nice.
Overall, a very good job

9:18 on normal mode. THIS GAME IS HARD. I love it. The AI is so good hahaha, I love how they block the doors. Great music and sounds --good use of stock! Really makes me want to perfect every movement :D

This was fun! I played it at least 5 times just trying to beat my old time. I liked how easy the gameplay was to figure out and how the WASD keys are the only controls in the game. Very nice job!

Amazing entry! Played it quite a few times but never got further than 8:25 - it seems like outrunning the adults is the most important in the long run. Really love the mix of mechanics, the well-programmed AI, the inevitable end because more adults enter. The music and sound are very fitting as well.

Haha, made me laugh with the stressful music. I like the idea and the mechanics of doing things to delay it. I did have a hard time figuring out just who the adults were. Cause they were different colours? But really good use of music, made me laugh with stress haha

Absolutely love the concept! This was really fun to play and I really felt like a mischevious child running around the house. Rewinding the clock or unleashing the guinea pig are especially entertaining.

This is fantastic. I can't get over how sad the violin is when I'm sent to bed.

This is a very cool little game.
Good work. If you slap proper graphics on this game you have a winner.
The sound and music felt very well planned. Good work.
