STORY

Playing Dave! is a hilarious narrative and mini platform game where you play Anthony, a sound designer, that has to cover his friend by doing his job as a game developer.

Anthony will have to apply all his knowledge in video-games to impersonate his friends job, in order to DELAY THE INEVITABLE: Dave’s dismissal.

This is really cool! I love the simple soundtrack it fits so well. The pixel art also looks amazing and great story, well done!

Very clever and interesting idea. The art work and sound tie together perfectly. I really enjoyed playing this game. I also stuck around to watch the credits because they were well done.

Awesome idea! The story was original and I could tell that a lot of care has been put into the audio. It was fun to navigate each time through an improved level; I had a hard time with the commands for the cat though.

Holy moly guacamole, this was such a good experience! The only downside is the fact it's short, but as a jam game- it's perfect! :)

Wow! I really loved how this elevated a simple platformer concept and made it really engaging and fun to get through. Fantastic work on the art, sound and writing!

This was really really good.

I would've loved if Anthony was always in the foreground sitting on his pc. Great font in the intro btw

I really enjoyed the sense of humour and the meta nature of the framing narrative. Had a couple of minor issues, like where the cat would fall off the thin poles when it felt like it shouldn't, and a minor visual issue where a row of pixels from the background were visible underneath one of the sets of spikes. Other than that, nice work.

I love the story. I really hope you go on and add _lots more_ to this in the future - there's definite potential for something with a longer experience :thumbsup:

clever take on the theme to deliver an upbeat game. a breath of fresh air after so many games which play out an impending doom!

We like cats in the games! :smile_cat: Nailed it! So hilarious and funny, one moment I thought I'm stuck, but then I tried another way, and Anthony said "HAHA IQ 200" and I instantly fell from chair with laughing :joy_cat:

The jump feels a bit floaty hue hue hue...

I really liked this game, short and sweet. I especially like the way you interluded the story with the gameplay in Dave's game.

The animation is also top notch.

If there's one thing I had to criticize it's that the font is not really matching the pixelstyle, minor!

Great game. Loved all the art, and the presentation of the game within the game was very well done. Great sound design as well. Love the cat!

The animation for the player character is one of the most fluid (and a bit cute) I've seen so far! The audio (both music and sound) is also top-notch! I was wondering if you could make an OST downloadable? That's how brilliant the music is. Story-wise, I liked how it meshed really well with the gameplay, and I chuckled a bit at the situational humor here.

A few critiques I have of this game are that it's too short, and that the term "delaying the inevitable" didn't need to be said clearly. Poor Dave, though... :pensive:

In all, this one's a massively strong contender! Congratulations! :thumbsup:

This has such a nice mood! The graphics, writing and music are all great! It has lots of character! You even put a lot of effort into the credits! I defintely wouldn't mind a longer story in this style. :)
