Scaling Issues (Updated):

Web Version now has a Fullscreen button in the bottom right if you scroll down. Fullscreen works well on 1920x1080 and 3840x2160. 2560x1440 is best enjoyed not Fullscreen.

Windows version works just as well as Fullscreen web does for 1920x1080 and 3840x2160. 2560x1440 has issues with Backround items and enemies spawning in camera.

Changelog:

06/04/22

  • changed the unity template for the web version to include a Fullscreen button.

Great job on the atmosphere and overall aesthetic of the game. The enemies have a tendency to mimic the player's moves a bit too much but i still had lots of fun playing

The game looks really nice and the audio is really good. I was left wondering if there was some sort of win condition though. Also I think it could use rebalancing of ammo drops and enemy health. I ran out of ammo and couldn't kill anything to get more ammo. Maybe add in random drops that don't require killing enemies? Overall solid work!

Thanks a lot everyone!

If you run out of ammo you can still use your plane as a weapon. Ramming an enemy will destroy it, but also deal a lot of damage to you. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Art, audio, and mood mix to create a good environment.
At first, I didn't notice the limited ammo, and thought the theme connection was very vague, but then I ran out of ammo, and being this kind of game things got drastic quickly.

So, I died in the game and it kept going, I suppose this isn't intended. Good job!

Great feel with the airplane pitch animation giving that dive/soar sensation. Love the rippling scarf too

@bodcodes thanks! I learned how to animate just for that. ^^
@roughskin definitely not intended. :D

Very fun game. Playing on the web version, I had an issue on my screen where I couldn't see chunks of the game (including the ammo/health meters, I didn't realize they were there until after playing a while) without scrolling the window. But, despite that, still fun to fly around and shoot everyone. Controls were responsive, challenge was in the reasonable range. Liked it.

Graphics and audio are great! It builds a wonderful atmosphere.

Would have been great to have a bit more variation between rockets and bullets.

The only real complaint I have is just down to enemy AI and variation. There didn't seem to be any climbing difficulty so once you learned how to cheese the enemies you can pretty much go forever since ammo boxes refill your ammo.

Great work!

@aflatthrasher we have updated the web version to include a Fullscreen button since our game didnt scale as expected.

@fireslash We sadly didnt have enough time to make the "AI" "smarter", we also used to not have a limit for how many enemies could be fighting the player at once and it made the game a bit too hard in our opinion. Would love to know you high score though, since noone i know has cracked the 5k mark yet, cheese or no cheese.

Really nice work overall!

I like the atmosphere and audio the best. Sets a nice one right off the bat. I enjoy the curve of the plane when moving up and down (adds a lot of difficulty)
Felt really good to control and looked good.

The visual and audio feedback was a little minimal. I actually didn't realize I was killing enemies for the first 30 seconds and thought they were just diving off the screen or something. Once I figured out they were dropping ammo it got more interesting.

Great mechanics. The main gameplay is fun. I do wish there was some kind of meta progression where your plane could get stronger but I understand not being able to do that within the time constraints. The art design is nice and the sound design compliments it well.

Running out of ammo and being permanently stuck in an up-down limbo I found a bit weird. Also, for a bit of unsolicited advice, I think the bullets and rockets would look better if they were a lot bigger, and it would also improve clarity of the game. I found that kind of visual feedback to be a bit lacking in the game, it could definitely be more dramatic! Anyway, being clearly new to making games you did a great job, the audio and the pixel art were both excellent.

Fun game! I like the overal presentation and sound. The enemies were a bit simple to figure out, but made it a fun challange to try to exploit them. :)

Great entry! :)

Nice old school flying game. Brought me back to the time of Carrier Air Wing

I love the pigeon art! This is already super fun, and has a lot of potential. I'd love to play a post-jam version of this with progression and more enemies.

Fantastic job. The art and sound were superb. The flight was a bit, floaty? Maybe that's intentional? It feels pretty good, but I wouldn't mind if it were a bit tighter. The biggest problem with this game is the theme it was made for. This would be great if you could actually do something with it and have some progression and win condition rather than just endless waves till you run out of ammo. Either way, great job.

The game works, sounds and looks good. The gameplay could use some difficulty tweak or two due to the fact the enemies are easy to predict.

I really enjoyed the unique flight mechanics! The game was a bit on the easy side for me since the rockets were too easy to dodge and the drops frequent enough to never be in any real danger. Would've loved some more enemy variety and/or (mini-)bosses.
