Cutthroat You, Homesick Me by warlorddreadful

[raw]
made by warlorddreadful for LD33 (JAM)
Ollie. Loner and outcast - and he prefers it that way.

So it wasn't a surprise to him when he was made to leave to take up a job in Red Hollow. A city of monsters, no one ever seems to return.

What does surprise him is that he feels more at home there than the quiet, human-inhabited town he grew up in. Maybe there's friendship in ghosts and vampires after all.

Made in Unity, using Fungus.

Team: warlorddreadful (me/solo)

*Note: There's been known to be a resolution problem. From one user: "I stumble upon a bug on my first try : when using some resolutions (for exemple 1024x768 windowed), it is not possible to see Theo in the second "act" as he is off-screen. Playing in 1440x900 windowed fixed it, this should probably be added to the game description for other people."

Very nice art style and quite an interesting story. Overall, I would say that this is one hell of a game, especially for 72h

Plus I love story driven games

Congrats on your first LD, you did well ! The graphics are really good, especially the character arts, lovely.

**SPOILER** I did not like the end, I would rather have stayed there with Ollie's new friends :) **SPOILER**

Love the art style. The music was good and fitting as well.

I enjoyed the game, but I think the story being such a contained arc could have had a lot more to it.

Interesting art style and story, gj. Interactions and objectives weren't clear enough imo

The yay:
- the art style
- the story (why did he leave the town in the end, though? D:)
- interesting take on theme

The nay:
- found the feedback a bit lacking; I'd like to have some indication of which element I can click, e.g. by it growing a little or something (kind of like upon clicking the element would make that "size bouncing" animation)
- minor bug: when I clicked near the flower cart at the beginning, where the bird person would *later* be, the dialogue option still appeared

Quite a solid entry overall, wouldn't mind seeing more of that. :3

Really nice style and I love how the music matches the mood. I found it a bit difficult to click on things and got stuck half-way through.... No matter what I clicked on, nothing new happened :-/

Love the art style, couldn't exit out of the game at the end though.

I like the artstyle but I have to say it is a little confusing, it is hard to understand what you can interact with and what not. But it is just a minor annoyance. The story is interesting and I really liked the general mood of the game.

Very interesting story and look - the only downside are the various bugs related to different resolutions.

Nice game. I think some visual sign on where you can click would greatly improve the gameplay. I like the mood and the art style. Found the beeping sound of the text a little annoying after a while but that's just a minor. Congrats on the entry!

Wickedly stylish and intriguing, you told an interesting story in a very cool looking locale. Perhaps no one returns from Red Hollow for a good reason? :P Noticed an odd issue where you could click on the flower seller before he actually appeared. It was a nice length, and the audio suited it well. Very well done, keep it up!

Great artstyle and mood. Except for the resolution bug it seemed very polished. Well done.
