I have to say - this is my most favorite game from those I had played this game jam. The graphics are incredible, the old man is really funny and the different environments (I saw three, are there more?) and items you can buy were interesting. I got 2064 points and then... the wormageddon happened. I can't imagine how you managed to make this masterpiece in three days. :))

This is literally a hidden gem, absolutely LOVE it. Need to return to this when I've had enough of rating games haha. Definitely a 5/5 for fun, among others!

**PROS:**
- Graphics are just so simplistic yet so great, the way everything is animated is just perfection too. I was easily able to read the enemy attacks through their animations.
- The roguelite elements are diverse and a great addition.
- The different attack patterns for the bosses, hell yeah!

**CONS:**
- I couldn't buy this on steam.

Errrr, this is goddamn amazing. Like, wow. I wasn't expecting to find something like this right at the top of the games queue! The combat is so precise and feels so good, the visuals are sick, the concept is solid and everything just *flows*. The mix of 2d and 3d is done to perfection where it was hard for me to tell what was real and what was faked.

Huge applause, very well done

The blood splash! So good!!! I love it. The worm swipe hits me and teardrops of purple blood everywhere! So good! This game is great and I *love* the aesthetic. Music is just right. Well done.

Love this one!
- The 3d/pixel art aesthetic is great. I'm curious if it's actually 3d or just sprite layering etc?? The character animations are awesome too.
- Fun dodging mechanics - good difficulty level
- Groovy music.

Nice work :)

This game is just beautiful. The music really sets the mood, and then the cool 3D-esque rotating column pixel art is truly ingenious. I'm a bit disappointed that I can't make it further into the game, there appears to be a crash or freeze on the WebGL version when the worm kills me which requires me to refresh and go back through the intro splash every time.

That one issue aside though, this really is an awesome entry and I would love to play an expanded version of it. Congrats on completing the jam!

"Run masterpiece" I love it!

The gameplay is simple and fun, and each time I wanted to keep going to see how far I could get. I did find that it was hard to decipher between the direct and sweeping lazer, and struggled to block these. The other two attacks I found to be the opposite and maybe a little too easy, as they are well telegraphed. Maybe a slightly longer block (1 or 2 frames) would help with a little more consistency.

The art style is wonderful and the soundtrack is amazing.

Heya! I felt this game was visually stunning. One of the best looking LD games I've ever seen. Animations and visual style were really excellent. I struggled a little bit with the gameplay, as the feedback felt comparatively lacking compared to the rest of the design elements. A lack of SFX was noticeable in this entry, which definitely could have been used to help identify and time attacks, as well as give the player some positive feedback on successful dodges. I also found the disconnect between the shield active time and the animation particularly off-putting, in the situation where I "have the right solution" but "at the wrong time" just feels a little unfair in the moment.

I think, conceptually, the scenario of the game creates a sense of futility that makes perfect sense for the jam, but doesn't make me excited to engage with the experience: I have a sword, but I can't attack. I can do a good job of dodging, but at the end of every level I get eaten anyway. The game feels very focused on punishing the player for doing poorly, but there's no moment-to-moment endorphin rush for doing something correctly.

I really like the sound design, and I was blown away by the amount of aesthetic touches. The whole thing has a lot of cohesion and shows real finesse. With a little bit of gameplay juice, I think this could have been one of the most memorable jam games I've ever played.

Nonetheless, a phenomenal entry. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the jam!

Very impressive submission. I quite like the game being restricted to a single room that rotates around. That way the focus is just on the interaction while still providing a visually impressive environment.

I think the control scheme is a bit difficult to use and instead of a timer for the fight it would be nice if you could go forward and actually smack the worm.

The music slaps, especially the first track.

Absolutely amazing entry here. The way you guys did 2.5D is superb. Loved every moment of this. Most of the attacks are telegraphed beautifully, and the time to react is just the right amount. Great boss and arena design. My prime gripe is with some attacks that are not telegraphed well

- The attack where the worm shoots slime all over the arena :
-> The problem here is that the shadows for the slimes are a little too faint and a little too small. And once they do become a little dark, they're pretty much as dark as the player's shadow and so I can't really tell if I'm in a safe area or not. Maybe this was intentional, but this is the prime reason why I took any damage in the first two fights. Every other attack in the first two phases have been telegraphed very well.

- ( SPOILER ) the attack in the third arena where the worm's tail comes up :
-> A similiar situation to the slime attack. If I hadn't jumped, I don't think I would have noticed this attack. This move is actually telegraphed in advance, except I wouldn't have thought that the worm's tail would come up. It might have been only me, but I definitely found this attack annoying

Other than that though, this is definitely a phenomenal submission. Amazing work to you guys

One of the most amazing art directions I've seen so far!

The boss arena reminded me heavily of that worm boss fight from Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero, which is great because I love that boss!

Took me some time to figure out what button I was supposed to press to pass the intro screen though.

Masterpiece indeed!

That's some really cool 3D effects and I love the sense of humor. The gamefeel was a bit off when it comes to shielding (especially with the button mapped down.) Maybe implement some hitStop for those hits/shields, as overall it just felt very 'soft' on the impact. This game could've also really benefited from some SoundFX.

Otherwise, it's very addicting, awesome work!

**Fun:** The game is absolutely amazing ... but I almost quit because I always tried to dash away from the two attacks where you're supposed to jump so I always died really quickly, so I went to the page and saw the dash had no freeze frames and I was like oh I needed to jump lol. Anyways I agree with the guy above me that defending with a shield should have more of an impact so it feels better when you get the timing right. I also wish you could skip the text at the beginning.

**Innovation:** I alway have a hard time rating this category but it is pretty innovative.

**Theme:** It fits the theme well!

**Graphics:** The 2.5 visuals are absolutely amazing. Its crazy how much you guys made all the worlds and the free fall upgrade area in the jam time, all look super great.

**Audio:** The music is fantastic (I'm running out of adjectives to use lol) but more sound effects would have been nice.

**Humor:** The old man was pretty funny (although I did want to push him off the tower) and it gave me major Celeste vibes which is always a great thing.

**Mood:** The mood was good, I liked the saturated visuals when you could have done more bleak and dark.

**Overall:** Just a great game overall, will be playing more after I've done with rating other jam games. I also found a bug where if you move to the left and jump up you can see some text appear quickly.

This is going to sound repetitive, since I've already said this of other games, but this is one of the best games I've played in this jam so far!

The pixel art and animation are well-done to a fine detail, especially the animation! The music is no slouch either, the harmonica is the main star of these pieces. Too bad I couldn't get past the second area, so I had no chance to listen to the last track. I'm glad, though, that you guys put a download to the OST of this game! The graphics, as I've said before are great, and the 2.5-D style and warm palettes were integrated in the best way possible.

The theme for the jam also fits in well with the game, since the worm (a world-eater, no less) itself represents the symbol of the inevitable. The old man's witty barbs were insulting than humorous, imo, though (I died a few times, and you come to laugh when I'm resurrected?). That's why it was a bit tricky to decide whether to grade the humor section lower or not, but I decided to give it a four, since someone might find it funny.

My critiques, though, are that the controls aren't so tight when using the shield, since I couldn't tell whether the shield was already up or not, and I ended up misjudging the timing of my defense against the world-eater. The world-eater's attacks were also a bit hard to telegraph, since in the first level, I couldn't tell whether he was going to fire his laser straight at me, or do a sweeping laser, and I made the mistake of pulling the shield out more often than not.

In all, the animation, pixel art, and music are wonderful, and make up for the other qualities that I critiqued above. Great work!

I didn't read the tips until it was too late—I tried to play it like a Souls game and roll with invincibility frames. So I didn't get far for a while. The game was really good and well polished when I got into it. Everything's great.

Thought the game was broken when I couldn't figure how to get past the intro text, but you just have to wait for a while. A click to continue would be nice for the speed readers.

The music and art were both amazing, and the controls felt really solid. The mapped keys (I play on keyboard) felt a little weird (S, F, space and shift). Maybe there is a way to re-mapped them that I didn't see, but I would have preferred something more 'tradtional' like ZX and the arrow keys.
Also, extra sound-FXs for the block and jump would have really added to the game

I would like to really know how you did the scene (is it 2d,2.5d, 3d?). Shame you do not share the source code. :)

In the web version bug occured. I was able to reproduce it multiple times. It is when the laser from the worm is directly pointed towards me and I am able to shield it:

@matterlinx No worries. I already downloaded the windows version. Thanks :)

That was really fun. Made it to the third fight, but could not beat it yet. In the third fight I was hit by something, but couldn't tell what exactly it was. That was strange.

visually stunning for a jam game. music is great too. this is more or less a dark souls boss fight stripped to its bare components, and i gather that was intentional. it's good! it feels that there isn't much logical consistency as to what can be blocked or not. and unfortunately, blocking the laser attack also crashed the game for me.
i agree with the previous poster that it would be nice if you could just whack the worm instead of waiting for the fight to end.

Very well done! Fantastic entry. The visuals were amazing, I'm guessing you used a pixelated shader? The feedback was nice but the attacks could've been better telegraphed. It was difficult for me to shield when he shot the laser straight forward. I like the old man laughing. The placement of the sign is smart. The music was good. I do wish there was a clear sign of how to restart the game when you die as you died. But other than that, animations and visuals are the game's strongest suit. Fantastic game.

Good job!

Awesome bossfight! I love the 2.5D point of view and the musics are great. Gameplay also shines here as you can get really skilled in this game and avoid all hits, no attack felt unfair when you found a counter to it.

I played many times to the third level but never understood how to counter the "roar" attack and always died to it. Nothing seemed to work and I couldn't really tell where that attack was pointed and when I used shield, I just fell into a hole or something. Maybe I'm missing something.

Anyways, this is a polished game that is beautiful in many ways. I really enjoyed playing it even if I couldn't pass level 3.

EDIT: Actually when I tried again I realized that I didn't first understand the animation. It's a tail that spikes from underneath, isn't it? I didn't first notice it and thought that the roar just kills you... And when I died, it looked like the knight fell into a hole, but I just looked at it the wrong way.

There could be something signaling that the attack is coming from below though, for both signaling reasons and to make clearer what just happened... but I understand that cracks on the ground could be weird as they would have to follow the player.

Lovely graphics and very good gameplay. It reminds me of a boss of Shantae, I'm guessing it's inspired by it ? Either way I love the concept of the circular area with a boss in the middle, it's a cool concept that should be used more often. Also sandworms are cool now thanks to dune, so that's a plus.

Very nice art with music, I like this rotating kind of gameplay  The only thing I wasn't satifsied with is that you can't really differentiate that laser beam attack and blast, they look almost the same (just a little difference in height) before shooting and you have to block that blast, while you cannot that beam  That old man at the start made me remember Jump King  Really awesome entry, you guys did great!
