Kudos!
The UI is very clean, the text-box especially.
The overall gameplay is simple and the controls are quick to pick up.
(minor)
One thing that's weird is the previously established gameplay rules (having to maintain the fire and keep warm) being thrown out on the last day. I get that it would've been too annoying for the player to have to run back to the fire all the time, but it still felt off to have such a large change in gameplay in the last part of the game.
Having the game tied together with a short story is a nice idea. Wanting to know how the story plays out gave me another reason to keep playing.
I think the constructive criticisms a few have offered are dead on and I will definitely take those issues into account for a potential future release.
As a contributor to Dialogic, mind if I ask what version you used, and how much you had to change if anything to get it working in time?
Thanks for contributing to Dialogic, it's a fantastic plugin and saves me lots of time! Also thanks for playing!
Good job man!
In the end, however, the *story* has to be the star of the show in a game like this... and you deliver wonderfully. I truly grew fond of the characters and cared about their stories.
I agree you should keep working on it. If you got this far in 72 hours, you definitely have it in you to make something truly spectacular. Great work.
The last level is a bit wired for lack of a better word I understand the intention of carrying vs defending yourself against wolf but it fairly easy to drop Laoise in advance, fight and get her it thing the only think that is lacking to improve that part would be that she cannot stay on the ground to long or she will get cold in order to force the player to take risks :)
Constructive feedback: I feel like the gameplay of gathering supplies was a bit of a chore, the walk speed feels appropriate, but also kind of slow, sorry if that's confusing lol. Maybe a sprint mechanic w stamina would help that and keep movement a lil more interesting and engaging. The wolf interactions were the most fun, and I really liked the pace change at the end where we need manage carrying the girl but also fighting the wolves, even though it's kind of easy to just drop her and take care of business, it was a nice touch.
Good job overall!
Was actually interested to see it through to the end thanks to the characters and ominous foreshadowings.
Had some audio glitches with every scene change (nothing too dramatic).
Throwing stones at those wolves hurt my soul a bit but that is a given for me :dog:
Character could have been a little faster and maybe an indication as to where my traps are positioned.
Nice little easter egg at the end. Fun.
Interested to see what additional story points and features you would come up with given more time.
The setting would surely allow for some neat directions to go in.
Difficulty was on the easier end of the spectrum which is absolutely the right choice for a jam game, nice work!
I can tell you're a great guy. I would like to work with you in the same team :D
Is the girl still alive?
The graphics, audio, and sound design all work together to enhance the mood of the story, and the limited inventory means you have to be careful and balance your various goals. I didn't find the game too difficult, and even the final day was easy enough once I stopped for a moment and figured out an actual strategy.
My only real criticism, and I know this has been brought up by others, is that the music stutters for a few seconds every time there's a scene change. It's really jarring, and it just pulls you right out of the world.
This is a fantastic game for 72 hours' work, and if you do expand it into a larger game, I'd love to play it.
Espero que ganhe :)
I do wish that the gameplay evolved a little more, especially between days, but this IS a jam game after all, so that's really a minor complaint. Nice job with this one!
The gameplay is just diverse enough to make it interesting without being to complicated. The clear objectives, the narrative elements and the structure of the game make it way better than other games where you just have to keep a fire burning. Everything goes well together in this game.
Great job and thanks for the game!
i think the narrative was cool, but involved a few too many concepts, like druids and highborns and whatnot, my favorite parts were the grounded, more present aspects, but i appreciate the world building through narrative!
