TIME by etchell

[raw]
made by etchell for Ludum Dare 50 (JAM)

This is my entry in to LD50. My first LD!

TIME is a game about the passing of time and what we choose to do with it.
I wasn't able to put in anywhere near the amount of interactables I was aiming for, but I did learn a lot about Unity and it was a great opportunity to apply what I have been studying at school.

There is no real objective to the game. But there is a secret. If you figure it out, let me know!

Controls
WASD to move
Mouse to look
E or left click to interact.

Bugfix: Interactables would become activate-able from anywhere.

It's almost unplayable in browser. Please add the option for downloadable.

+1, good job! I'm not sure if I found the secret, was it the harp? The walls exploding out was a nice touch. :)

Well done on your first attempt! I'm not sure if this was the secret or not, but when I was writing on the piece of paper in the second bedroom I noticed it overflows after the end of the page. Shortly after that the house disappeared and all I saw was the stars and space, so I think I lost. :)

Not bad for first. I founded some bugs with interact objects
1) toilet and harp - sounds play everywhere after used it
2) paper - text out of border with frequent use

Hi @luquio I've added a Windows build.

I have found that Firefox, on Itch.io is having issues with setting my Mouse X axis to 3.0 when there is actually no input. Is this is the issue you ran in to?

It does not do this in any other browser. Nor does it do it in Firefox when running it from Unitys local server. It's very strange.

@boon & @franticcoder - Neither of those things are 'the secret'

Though fun fact. the harp sounds are recordings of my partner :)

The text overflowing was just a fun bug I left in because why not!

Welcome to Ludum Dare!! It's my first jam too, and I really like that you're getting started and submitting entries :D

I really like the visual style of the game, something about the simple flat 3D style just really works.
I don't think i found the secret, though I really did try!
I also really enjoyed the way the walls fell apart as the world ended, kind of felt like Outer Wilds in a way.

If I had to have a complaint, its that the camera was constantly rotating to the right and made me kind of dizzy haha.

Good entry :)

@luquio It should go to the Itch page, which has a download link down the bottom! Itch doesn't support direct linking, I don't think!

EDIT: Think I've worked around the itch bug telling it to load in a new window...

@izhvaryag Thanks for playing! The first bug I am having trouble replicating it consistently. I've definitely had it happen, but I can't replicate it on demand. I'll keep playing around. The text overflowing I knew and decided to leave for the meme. So much lorem ipsum.

@ernestogtz Thank you so much!

@mopifish Thank you so much! Cheers on the visual style. The initial apartment model dictated it and anything I added I tried to keep consistent with it.

The camera rotating was something introduced on upload to Itch. I've tweaked itches settings and it shouldn't do it any more.

Awesome job dude. Your low poly models are great. Funny was that you can see the shadow from the unity sphere on the bed :D This gives a good feeling that you are not only a camera. Really great job. Thumbs up. :-) Had fun playing it.

Thanks @c64gamer ! I can't take credit for the low poly models, they are credited on the itch page. (Why graphics rating is removed).

I did make the frame for the alarm clock in Blender though. First time using it :)

A nice simple game that really made me wonder what exactly I would be doing if I knew the end of the world was coming. The clock was a very menacing reminder of my impending doom which was pretty neat. I liked the interactables that were scattered around, they were fun to mess around with for a bit :p

I like the concept. Would be cool to have more interactions but you already covered that in the description. I ended up playing with the toilet a lot. lol

Thank you for sharing.

Good job! I think the mouse sensitivity is a little high. It's cool that the time in game matches the time irl.

Thanks everyone!

The plan is to finish off the project to its original scope.

Lots of interactables, a flashier ending, a menu with sensitivity and other configuration, plus some more atmospheric items.

I'm working on it now and will post it on Itch when it's done!
