What is has to offer:

Not much over any other game, but its still fun (I think?)

MainMenu.png

About:

Zombie, M.D. is all about this poor doctor who happened to be unlucky enough to live through a zombie apocalypse. Luckily for humanity, he managed to develop a cure. Unluckily for him (yet again), he has to distribute it to the incoming ~~zombies~~ patients who enter his care. As he heals these undead patients, however, the room starts to fill up with the remnants of humanity. And of course there are zombies, so everyone is running around with no sense of direction. Will the doctor manage to cure all the zombies who enter through his doors? Or will the hoard of healed patients prove to be too big a problem. Find out in just a few clicks!!! Also plz rate lol thanks

Controls are simple:

WASD for movement, mouse to aim, and left click to throw bottles. When at the desk, press space to brew bottles.

The itch link doesn't work :(
Maybe your page isn't public or you made a mistake ?

Ok it works, well it's not bad. :) but one thing I that makes it hard is that you can't brew potions from the upper side of the desk, only the lower. Since most of the room is up, you always lose time.

Cool art. I like the game idea but the camera movment feels a little bit too heavy. I think the game might feel better with the camera being zoomed out. I also have to agree with bottled-up-dark-peace. Making potions accessible from the top of the desk would make it easier and also prevents being bullied by zombies at both entrances

Anyway still nice game!

Nice game, I do wish I had more of a zoomed out view, and some more UI would be great. Cute visuals (especially the lab equipment)

Like others said, I'd like to zoom out view. But otherwise a nice game for every zombie apocalypse lover.

@mira Yeah. I'm going to release an update for those who want a better experience (with a disclaimer saying only to vote on the old version of course)

I like the concept. I think it would be a lot better if the camera kept the player centred in the screen. Being at the edge makes it hard to see what's coming up. Other than that it gives off a really strong feeling of slowly losing control of the crowd of zombies. Great work.

@boykala Thanks! I didn’t have much time to play test the game after I made it since I ended up making it in its entirety on the last day of the jam. My previous idea had failed me and was going nowhere, so I restarted. Anyway I’m going to do some testing and switching up of camera position and the gathering bottles system. I had originally wanted to have to make the player brew potions that would take time before you could use them, but I simply didn’t have time. I might develop the game I to a fully fledged game, but who knows.

A fun idea and nice take on the theme! I was going to make the same feedback as others since i ended up getting trapped on the bottom half even though they were mostly healthy people to begin with. Maybe you could mess around with trying to make the camera look ahead of the player in the direction that the cursor is? Otherwise a fun concept! :)

The idea has potential, but to be honest, it often felt frustrating that everything blocked your path and you couldn't get to your desk. Also, you can't throw bottles in a downward direction. My guess is, that they spawn inside your own collision box and explode immediately.

@hamdogu Thanks! Yeah I didn't really have a playtest phase (something I will definitely have next jam), so there are several things that could use some changing. Thanks for the review though.

@tianmaru Yeah it's a rushed game honestly. Going to take some work to make it better. Weird... I need to check for the collisions.

I always enjoy throwing things at people and this scratched the itch. Really fun concept! Would love to have some music and sound effects, and maybe the ability to throw bottles across the table, or the ability to grab bottles from the top of the table. Overall great job!

A very good game, but the timers could be l;ooked at. Also, how do you get to the next level

How to brew bottles? Standing near the table and pressing space does not work for me :(

@ratstail91 You throw them at the zombies to cure them.

@arthur-mairs Thanks lol!

@matt-rice Thanks! I ran out of time for music, but I might add some in the future. Yeah the mechanics need refinement, and I've already started implementing grabbing bottles from the top of the table.

@beebster-games What exactly do you mean by timers? Also there is only the one main level. Might add more in the future.

@bastilo In the current version you have to stand at the bottom of the table. As I said earlier I've changed this.

I liked it but the mechanics could be more streamlined, I figured I could just push one guy down to the table with me and keep him alive while everyone died for a while

The gameplay is a bit confusing, I think it could do with a tutorial. It's not obvious that you can only brew potions from the other side of the desk, or that the number of potions you can have is capped at 5, so I was standing there spamming Space wondering why nothing was working. It seems like the potion bottles can collide with yourself, because if you fire one at certain angles, it just shatters immediately.

I like the graphics, and I definitely think there's the beginning of a good game here, but it needs some work and polish. I'm sure you'll improve in future jams, so keep up the hard work!

Camera work would improve this quite a bit! Either having the player more centered, or pushed out in the direction of movement. I also wonder what it would be like to have a fixed camera of the whole room, i.e. no hidden information, but working much more to manage zombies. It's an idea, something to try if you want to keep working on the project!

I had a good time throwing bottles at my coworkers!

@burnsdesigns Yeah it's definitely not a finished product. This is the first jam I participated in where I actually knew what I was doing (at least somewhat), and I still have a lot to learn. This is also the first game I've released, and obviously I knew it wasn't going to be great. Still had fun learning and improving my skills though. Not really sure if I'll continue it or not, but I'm definitely going to try my hand at making an actual game, instead of a bunch of small prototypes and failed projects.
