[raw]
made by Baldurs for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

Fractured is a run-and-gun 2D platformer where a fracture in time occurs and you find yourself holding an m16 in the medieval era. Every time you shoot your gun, time begins to fracture as the timeline begins to warp. The more you shoot your gun, the more fractures will occur. Choose your shots carefully, or else your timeline with fracture into oblivion! 2.PNG

Nice fast paced game with the music to go with it. Lots of different enemies too.

Really hard! Interesting use of coyote time. I don't think I've ever seen it used as a game mechanic like that. I was impressed by the glitch effects, they look really nice

One shotting random wizards has never been so satisfying :D

Cool game! Feels very polished, good graphics, mechanics and music, the only thing - level design is unclear sometimes

On the surface it seems like a very generic game, but then the glitches come into play and they get very creative, really good take on the theme.

Don't tell me why, but i loved every scaled version of the enemies! I really enjoyed the concept and the pacing!

Good idea, some examples of the 'glitches' would be nice to have though. Utterly hate the side view personally. Love the art too.

Nice work. Things get a bit hectic and didn't realize the shifts with the timer at first.

I liked this game a lot! Definitely one of the better feeling platformers I've played this jam. The only things I would suggest changing is having the camera zoomed out a bit more (dashing may as well be blindly shooting off face first into whatever is off-screen) and some of the glitches were a bit more obtrusive than they were fun or interesting. The glitchy visuals and the error pop-ups were really good and clever in my opinion, but the inverted controls or flipped screen was more irritating than challenging...

Besides that, the pixel art is pretty good and the music is lowkey a total banger. I also really liked the ending!

Took me a bit to reach the third platform because it never told me to hold down shift. Also, the controls were really sensitive and I could not get very far into the game (I would recommend toning the speed down and shortening the long jumps so you can see the other side but still not make it). The sound and music were quite good though and it makes up for the controls. Nice music and good luck!

Fun and enjoyable game. But sometimes not obvious where to go :)

Pretty good game. I think my two main criticisms would've been the camera. It felt a bit janky when moving really quickly. The other would be that it would have been helpful to have some environmental cues on where to go. This could have been as obvious as an arrow or something more subtle. Overall an interesting interpretation of the theme and I am very pleased that there were checkpoints :)

Fun game that is very fast paced and hard. The floaty and instant movement reminds me of older games. The camera is also too zoomed in for you to see where you need to go, so the first attempt of progression will almost always kill you because you lack information. The time-warping barely did anything for me and when it kicked in I almost always died instantly which removed the effect. Pretty good and entertaining.

The core idea is good and well developed for a jam game. There's a bug that hearts don't heal me, at least i think is a bug, and not a fracture event.
The music is catchy, but in long sessions is too redundant.
I prefer to have more control on character movement, i died too many times on trying to jump on a single platform.

Tip: be sure to make players see where they are going. Don't let them guess the direction. In the last section of the first level, for example, i didn't know where to go (left or right) and just jumped to the right. And Dying. Yeah it was left.

The game is good, i really like your implementation of the theme, it just need more polish. Keep it up!

@michelangelo It’s not a bug, you’re supposed to collect three hearts to fill up a bar that’s underneath your health count to replenish a heart. Not much in the game is very clear, but that’s more of a mistake on our part. I’ve been reading all the feedback from everyone, and I’m definitely taking all of it (especially the feedback about clarity of design) into account in future projects I work on.

nice platformer - the controls were a bit confusing (mouse shoot, shift dash etc.).
Would be nice to not use the mosue at all for shooting.

It is really a nice prototype.
